Dear Friends,

If there was a time for our Catholic Charities Hawai‘i ‘ohana to come together and assist those in need, it was 2018. With natural disasters taking place on Hawai‘i Island and Kaua‘i, our dedicated staff was on the ground - assisting families and individuals affected by the volcanic activity and flooding.

It was truly amazing to see the community come together to help each other through difficult times. We are grateful for the local, national and international outpouring of donations that supported our efforts.

As we continue our ongoing commitment of service and advocacy in the community, we would like to share some highlights of the past year:

• Disaster recovery efforts have been underway and continue on Kaua‘i and Hawai‘i Island to help Kimberly T. Jones with the after effects of the flooding and volcanic activity. CCH assisted over 1,400 individuals Chair, Board of on both islands thus far. Directors

• Phase II of our Meheula Vista senior affordable housing complex opened and we broke ground on Phase III. The first two phases include 150 units for seniors with a multi-purpose room and an outdoor pavilion. Phase III is expected to be completed by the 4th quarter of 2019.

• Kahului Lani, our senior affordable housing project on Maui, began construction in November. Phase I is expected to be completed at the end of 2019. This 165 unit project will include on-site CCH offices and senior-related services.

• The Family Assessment Center in Kaka‘ako completed its third year of services to homeless families. The center has served 109 families to date. The average length of stay until being housed is approximately 77 days. Stella M.Q. In November, Stella Wong became our Acting CEO and Brian Donahue joined our team this January as our new Vice President of Finance.

Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center will also celebrate its 50th Anniversary this year! Congratulations to our Center for 50 years of keeping seniors healthy and active.
