Tina has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UCLA and a Master of Architecture from UNLV. Architecture was a second career for Tina - a passion and dream of hers since childhood that she fi nally achieved upon receiving her Master of Architecture and subsequent licensure in her early thirties. During Tina’s time at UNLV, she developed a passion for designing in the unique state of Nevada and also met her future business partner Craig Palacios (AIA Nevada Young Architect, 2017). Tina and Craig founded Bunnyfi sh Studio in 2011. Bunnyfi sh Studio focuses on making a high impact in revitalizing up-and-coming Nevada neighborhoods. Bunnyfi sh Studio is not afraid to be located in the heart of areas experiencing rejuvenation, contributing to the new architecture (or adaptive reuse of existing structures), and becoming part of the community and culture of those areas. Tina and Bunnyfi sh Studio worked with Tony Hsieh and the Downtown Project to create several signature catalyst projects which sparked the revitalization of downtown Las Vegas. Bunnyfi sh was also the author of the North Las Vegas Downtown Masterplan, which is expected to generate new development for that area. Similarly, Bunnyfi sh has completed numerous projects in midtown Reno, a historic neighborhood which is experiencing an emerging food, art, and cultural scene. Bunnyfi sh believes in our rural Nevada communities as well, and has been involved in economic redevelopment for Gerlach and Caliente. Over the years, Tina has developed relationships with large hospitality clients such as Marriott, Hilton, MGM Resorts International, and Caesars Entertainment to design spaces from full hotel to individual areas. Nomination Biography Achievements Articles Design Work Letters of Support Bunnyfi sh Studio has built a fi rm portfolio with over 200 projects, and has gained recognition with Las Vegas, HOSPY, and AIA awards (including AIA Nevada Firm of the Year). Tina has been published in numerous magazines for her work, and is a champion for women in architecture. Through Tina’s leadership, Bunnyfi sh is a certifi ed women 02 owned business through WBENC (Women’s Business Enterprise National Council). Tina donates time to lecture and teach on the subject of architecture and is regular guest critic at the UNLV School of Architecture. ABOUTWE ASPIRE TO BEUS FIRST, UNIQUE, OR BEST IN EVERYTHING WE DO. Downtown Project was founded in January 2012 with the idea that if you accelerate co-learning, collisions, and connectedness in the city’s urban core, productivity, innovation, growth, and happiness will fall into place. Zappos.com CEO Tony Hsieh made a personal investment of $350 million toward helping with the revitalization of part of downtown Las Vegas. His investment became Downtown Project, which has allocated roughly $200 million in real estate and development, $50 million in small businesses, $50 million in technology and startups through VTF Capital, and $50 million in arts and culture, education, and healthcare. A large portion of our investment was allocated toward real estate and development in the Fremont East/East Village districts of downtown Las Vegas. We own approximately 45 acres, and we’re activating our holdings in an organic way, rather than through a top-down master plan. We’ve purposely activated buildings that are not directly next to one another in order to encourage people to walk a little farther into the neighborhood, which increases opportunities for collisions. The roughly $200 million to real estate and development includes approximately 45 acres of land in and around the Fremont East and East Village districts, and approximately 11 businesses that we wholly own and operate. So far we’ve invested in approximately 50 small businesses ranging from restaurants, bars, and a microbrewery to retail, including a bookstore, a record store/recording studio, and a toy store. Downtown Project has also invested in services, from a membership-based dog park and doggie day care to an app-based laundry and dry cleaning business.
