| 18 | The Ready Report | Spring 2015 | www.brhs.org You know you’ve made an impact when, years after you’ve had contact with people, they see you, stop you, and reminisce about the times that you’ve shared.

his happens with regularity to Dean Tower, who joined Ready’s Tfaculty for the 1974-75 academic year, retired from teaching (sort of…) in 2012, and this year is retiring from coaching track and cross country. But to hear Coach Tower tell the story, it’s not what he did for his students; it’s what they (and Ready) have meant to him.

While many former students/runners Fitz Goss, Coach Tower, Reagan (Barr) ’95 and Tom Sweetman ’90 attest to a life-long love of running, developed with Coach Tower’s encouragement, what they learned through running and through Ready has carried over into other aspects of their lives. And this is what makes Coach Tower proud: the overall accomplishments of those students whom he has taught and coached at Ready. “Coaching has allowed me to see students not only as students, but as people. In the classroom, a teacher sees one mode; as a coach, I got to know them better, as individuals in a setting other than a classroom,” Coach Tower said. With principal Celene A.
