Changes to Bus Services in Brighton and Hove The following changes to bus services will take place in January 2018

There will be no eastbound journeys. Oak - Downs Park The section of route from Churchill Square to Whitehawk will be withdrawn. Service N7 provides an alternative between the city centre and Kemp Town (Roedean Road/Arundel Road).
On Monday to Saturday nights, the revised N1 will leave Brighton Station at 12.40am, then every 30 minutes until 3.10am, then 4.10am.
On Sunday nights buses leave Brighton Station at 12.40am, 1.40am and 2.40am.

The last service 1 westbound journey leaves Churchill Square at 11.54pm. The first service N1 westbound journey will leave at 12.44am (currently 12.13am).
However there is a service 6 journey at 12.10am from Brighton Station to Downs Park via Hove, New Church Road and Portslade. 2 Rottingdean - There will be one less journey serving Beeding/Upper Beeding, Bramber Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 Woodingdean - Sutherland and Steyning during the Monday to Friday morning peak and Monday to Buses Road - City Centre - Hove Saturday early evenings. Please see also services 2B and 59. - Portslade - Shoreham - Steyning There is no change to the service between Rottingdean and Shoreham, except that on Sunday evenings the 11.26pm journey from Shoreham will terminate at Woodingdean (Cowley Drive Shops) instead of Rottingdean. 2B Hove - Old Shoreham The early morning service 2B journeys from Southern Cross to Steyning Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 Road - Steyning on Mondays to Fridays will be reduced from three to two. Hove - City Centre - Hangleton only, to a reduced frequency. Buses will leave Old Steine (stop Buses Hollingbury U) at 1.17am, 2.17am and 3.17am. Return journeys will leave Hangleton (Hardwick Road) at 1.45am and 2.45am.
There will be no service between Old Steine, Preston Park, Patcham and Hollingbury, although service 5B will have one later journey added (leaving Churchill Square at 12.32am).
Service N25 may be an alternative option for some passengers travelling to and from Hollingbury ASDA: it serves the ‘Hollingbury nr ASDA Roundabout’ bus stop. This bus stop is at the roundabout on the western continuation of Coldean Lane, just to the north of the Crowhurst Road/Carden Avenue roundabout. 6 Brighton Station - Churchill Some morning peak journeys will be extended beyond Brighton Station to Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 Square - Hove - Portslade serve BHASVIC. On Brighton & Hove 17.06.18 Saltdean - Peacehaven - Sundays and bank holidays the frequency will be improved to half-hourly. Buses will leave Green - Cowfold – Churchill Square at 11am, 4pm and 6.40pm, returning from Horsham Bus Horsham Station at 9.30am, 12.30pm and 5.30pm. Most service 21 journeys will operate Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 Whitehawk - Queens Park direct between Manor Hill and Brighton Marina, which means that the Buses - City Centre - Hove - daytime service via Swanborough Drive and Wilson Avenue will be Goldstone Valley reduced from half-hourly to hourly.
The Saturday service to Goldstone Valley will be reduced from half-hourly to hourly, with most journeys running via the 21A route.

To help rail commuters, the last journey from Brighton Station will leave 18 minutes later, at 6.43pm.
Together with service 57, there will continue to be an hourly service between East Saltdean, Saltdean and Brighton. 48 Lower Bevendean - Lewes The daytime frequency on Saturdays will be reduced from every 15 Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 Road - City Centre - minutes to every 20 minutes. On Saturdays buses will terminate at Buses Brighton Station Churchill Square (Dyke Road, Imperial Arcade) instead of Brighton Station – except for the first three journeys in the morning. 49 East Moulsecoomb - Lewes No change Brighton & Hove Road - London Road Buses Shops - City Centre - Portslade Station 50 City Centre - London Road Reduced frequency before 8.20am on Saturday mornings. Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 - Ditchling Road - Buses Hollingdean There will be no change to the main daytime and evening frequency between Churchill Square and Hollingdean on Saturdays, but the Lewes Road/Universities section of route will no longer be served on this day. 50U City Centre - London Road Service 50U will be withdrawn on Saturdays, which means that there will Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 - Ditchling Road - no longer be a direct link between Hollingdean and Lewes Road/ Buses Hollingdean - Sussex Universities on Saturdays. University – University of Brighton - Falmer Station Hollingdean will continue to be served by service 50 on Saturdays. 52 City Centre - County There will be changes to the timetable, and to the off-peak route. The Big Lemon - 14.01.18 Hospital - Marina - Funded by Ovingdean - Woodingdean The morning commuter journeys will run slightly later, leaving Brighton & Hove Woodingdean (Downs Hotel) at 6.30am and 7.51am. The evening commuter journeys will run earlier, leaving Brighton Station at 5.15pm and 7pm. Additional recovery time has been scheduled, to improve reliability during the evening peak.
To improve reliability, most off-peak journeys will operate a one-way loop - serving Brighton Marina in one direction only. Journeys which terminate at the Royal Sussex County Hospital will only serve the Marina when travelling westbound, ie towards the hospital. From the hospital the bus will immediately continue direct to Ovingdean and Woodingdean.

The 5.22pm journey from Old Steine to Mile Oak will be withdrawn. 56 Patcham - Hollingbury - There will be changes to the timetable, to restore the full service to The Big Lemon - 14.01.18 Fiveways - Preston Circus - Patcham. Generally buses will run every 75 minutes. This will also allow Funded by City Centre - Seven Dials - more time for buses to complete their journeys and provide a reliable Brighton & Hove Knoll Estate service. City Council
Buses will leave Knoll Estate at 7.10am, 8.30am, 9.30am, 10.45am, 12.00, 1.15pm, 2.30pm, 3.45pm, 5pm and 6.15pm. The 6.15pm journey will terminate at Hollingbury ASDA.

An additional, later journey will leave Hollingbury ASDA at 7.09pm, terminating at Old Steine. 56E Brighton Station - Seven This journey will continue to depart from Old Steine at 7.43am, but will be The Big Lemon - 14.01.18 Dials - Blatchington Mill scheduled to arrive at Blatchington Mill School at 8.07am and Hove Park Funded by School - Hove Park School School at 8.12am (one minute later than now). Brighton & Hove (school days only) City Council 57 City Centre - County There will be changes to the Monday to Saturday timetable. The Big Lemon - 14.01.18 Hospital - Marina - Funded by Ovingdean - Rottingdean - To help people returning to East Saltdean, the bus will no longer wait Brighton & Hove Saltdean – East Saltdean time at Grand Ocean. This means that journeys from Grand Ocean City Council towards East Saltdean will leave earlier than now, and most journeys from East Saltdean to Brighton will run 10 minutes earlier than now.
Together with service 47, there will continue to be an hourly service between East Saltdean, Saltdean and Brighton, via Brighton Marina.
Service 57 additionally serves Ovingdean and Falmer Road in Rottingdean, but service 52 provides the main service to Ovingdean.
On Mondays to Saturdays, service 57 journeys will leave Brighton Station at 9.23am, 11.23am, 1.23pm and 3.23pm.
Service 57 journeys from East Saltdean (Bannings Vale) will leave at 9.30am, 11.18am, 1.18pm and 3.18pm

Old Steine Bus Stops from 14 January 2018 As an experiment, Brighton & Hove bus services 7, N7, 14C, 18, 22, 48, 78 and 79 will no longer serve Old Steine stop H (this is the stop adjacent to St James’s Street). These services will continue to serve Old Steine stop U (the bus stop just to the south of North Street).
Brighton & Hove Buses are doing this to ease congestion at Old Steine stop H because of the high number of buses using it: buses are unable to pass each other there. The company are hoping that this experiment will improve punctuality for all bus services using Old Steine. They will be listening to customer feedback and monitoring how it works.
