Changes to Bus Services in Brighton and Hove The following changes to bus services will take place in January 2018 Service No. Route details Changes to current service Service provided Date of by change 1 Whitehawk - County The combined service 1/1A evening frequency will be improved - from Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 Hospital - City Centre - every 15 minutes to every 12 minutes - for most of the evening on Buses Hove - Portslade – Valley Mondays to Saturdays. There will be an additional morning commuter Road - Mile Oak journey on service 1 from Whitehawk to Mile Oak, Monday to Friday - plus an additional journey at 7.29am from Hove Town Hall to Mile Oak on schooldays. 1A Whitehawk - County Please see service 1, above. Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 Hospital - City Centre - Buses Hove - Portslade – Mile Oak Road - Mile Oak N1 (night Whitehawk - County Night Bus N1 will be revised to operate westbound only, from Brighton Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 bus) Hospital - City Centre - Station, then via Churchill Square and the current N1 route to Mile Oak Buses Hove - Portslade - Mile and Downs Park. There will be no eastbound journeys. Oak - Downs Park The section of route from Churchill Square to Whitehawk will be withdrawn. Service N7 provides an alternative between the city centre and Kemp Town (Roedean Road/Arundel Road). On Monday to Saturday nights, the revised N1 will leave Brighton Station at 12.40am, then every 30 minutes until 3.10am, then 4.10am. On Sunday nights buses leave Brighton Station at 12.40am, 1.40am and 2.40am. The first service N1 westbound journey will leave at 12.44am (currently 12.13am). However there is a service 6 journey at 12.10am from Brighton Station to Downs Park via Hove, New Church Road and Portslade. 2 Rottingdean - There will be one less journey serving Beeding/Upper Beeding, Bramber Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 Woodingdean - Sutherland and Steyning during the Monday to Friday morning peak and Monday to Buses Road - City Centre - Hove Saturday early evenings. Please see also services 2B and 59. - Portslade - Shoreham - Steyning There is no change to the service between Rottingdean and Shoreham, except that on Sunday evenings the 11.26pm journey from Shoreham will terminate at Woodingdean (Cowley Drive Shops) instead of Rottingdean. 2B Hove - Old Shoreham The early morning service 2B journeys from Southern Cross to Steyning Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 Road - Steyning on Mondays to Fridays will be reduced from three to two. Buses 5 Hangleton - Grenadier – No change – but please see N5 Brighton & Hove Elm Drive - Hove - City Buses Centre - Preston Circus - Patcham 5A Hangleton - Grenadier – No change – but please see N5 Brighton & Hove Polyclinic - Hove - Old Buses Steine - Preston Circus - Patcham 5B Hangleton - Grenadier – There will be an additional late journey from Hangleton to Hollingbury at Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 Nevill Road - Hove - City 12.07am, which means the last bus will run 20 minutes later, Monday to Buses Centre - Hollingbury - Saturday. There will be minor timing changes to the journeys which serve Universities University of Sussex. Please see also N5. N5 Hangleton - Grenadier - Night Bus N5 will be revised to operate between Old Steine and Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 Date of Service No. Route details Changes to current service Service provided by Change Hove - City Centre - Hangleton only, to a reduced frequency. Buses will leave Old Steine (stop Buses Hollingbury U) at 1.17am, 2.17am and 3.17am. Return journeys will leave Hangleton (Hardwick Road) at 1.45am and 2.45am. There will be no service between Old Steine, Preston Park, Patcham and Hollingbury, although service 5B will have one later journey added (leaving Churchill Square at 12.32am). Service N25 may be an alternative option for some passengers travelling to and from Hollingbury ASDA: it serves the ‘Hollingbury nr ASDA Roundabout’ bus stop. This bus stop is at the roundabout on the western continuation of Coldean Lane, just to the north of the Crowhurst Road/Carden Avenue roundabout. 6 Brighton Station - Churchill Some morning peak journeys will be extended beyond Brighton Station to Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 Square - Hove - Portslade serve BHASVIC. Buses Station - Downs Park - Sainsbury’s 7 (Portslade Station peak The Sunday daytime service will be improved from every 10 minutes to Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 hours only) - Hove - Seven every 8 minutes. Buses Dials - City Centre - County Hospital - Marina Please see also N7. N7 (night Hove - Seven Dials - For a one hour period around 3am/4am on Monday to Saturday nights, Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 bus) Brighton Station - Old the service will reduce from every 30 minutes to hourly. There is no Buses Steine - County Hospital - change to the hourly Sunday night timetable. Marina 12 City Centre - Rottingdean - The 4.26am journey from Seaford to Brighton will depart 4 minutes earlier Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 Saltdean - Peacehaven - and will operate via Peacehaven Meridian Centre (Mondays to Saturdays). Buses Newhaven - Seaford - Please see also N12. Eastbourne 12A City Centre - Rottingdean - In Eastbourne, buses will take a different route between Terminus Road Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 Date of Service No. Route details Changes to current service Service provided by Change Saltdean - Peacehaven - and Winter Garden. Please see also N12. Buses Newhaven – Paradise Park/Avis Way - Seaford - Eastbourne 12X City Centre - Rottingdean - No change – but please see N12. Brighton & Hove Saltdean - Peacehaven - Buses Newhaven - Seaford - Eastbourne (limited stop) N12 (night West Street - City Centre - The N12 will only run on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Although Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 bus) Rottingdean - Peacehaven the timetable will remain the same, the 3.15am journey will terminate at Buses -Newhaven - Eastbourne Pier and will no longer continue to Hampden Park. Seaford/Eastbourne Service N14 will continue to run Monday to Saturday nights as now, providing an alternative option for most N12 passengers on Monday to Wednesday nights (except between Seaford and Eastbourne). 13X City Centre - Rottingdean - From 17 June until 1 September 2018 service 13X will run daily. On Brighton & Hove 17.06.18 Saltdean - Peacehaven - Sundays and bank holidays the frequency will be improved to half-hourly. Buses Newhaven - Seaford - On Mondays to Saturdays it will run hourly (as last summer). Until 16 Birling Gap - Beachy Head June and after 2 September 2018 the service will run to the current - Eastbourne (limited stop) Autumn/Winter timetable. 14, 14C Brighton Station - City On Sunday mornings the 9.15am journey from Churchill Square to Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 Centre - Marine Parade - Peacehaven will no longer operate. The 8.13am journey from Newhaven Buses Rottingdean - Saltdean - to Brighton will start from Peacehaven Meridian Centre at 8.28am. Peacehaven – Newhaven Service 14C runs via Please see also N14. The Big Lemon - 14.01.18 Estate – Hangleton Valley Funded by Drive & Hangleton All service 16A journeys will be renumbered 16 and will serve Hangleton Brighton & Hove Valley Drive, which will provide a new morning peak service to that area. City Council The 7.15am journey from Clayton Way will be extended to start from Portslade Station at 6.54am. The Saturday timetable will be improved to run at the same times as Mondays to Fridays. Buses will leave Green - Cowfold – Churchill Square at 11am, 4pm and 6.40pm, returning from Horsham Bus Horsham Station at 9.30am, 12.30pm and 5.30pm. (Sundays and Bank Holidays) A full timetable can be found at www.traveline.info/se 18 Brighton Station - City No change Brighton & Hove Centre - Queens Park Buses 21 Brighton Marina - Timetable completely revised. Most service 21 journeys will operate Brighton & Hove 14.01.18 Whitehawk - Queens Park direct between Manor Hill and Brighton Marina, which means that the Buses - City Centre - Hove - daytime service via Swanborough Drive and Wilson Avenue will be Goldstone Valley reduced from half-hourly to hourly. The Saturday service to Goldstone Valley will be reduced from half-hourly to hourly, with most journeys running via the 21A route. The Saturday service between Queens Park and the city centre will be reduced from every 15 minutes to three buses per hour.
