We were pleased to be joined by Cheryl with her three children and Jessica who responded to our request for help on Wolverton Massive. The summer bedding plants have looked good well into the autumn. Next Spring, Furze Way will have a swathe of daffodils and narcissi at each end of the central grassy area, planted with help from youngsters from the Ridgeway New Life Church in their half-term. They also cleared an overgrown patch of Hodge Furze Allotments where raised beds for wheelchair users are planned. We have planted tulip, daffodil and crocus bulbs around the War Memorial, using a grant from MK Ward Councillor Rob Middleton. Your Town Council and the In-Bloom group will look after this in future as Milton Keynes Council can no longer afford to put in bedding plants twice a year. We were pleased to get a Silver-Gilt Award again from the judges. The planting all around was praised including the Community Orchard and the Urb Farm, however we lose marks each year for litter, fly- posting and lack of business support. We hope to do better on these aspects in future. Next year the chosen colour scheme is gold, lilac and white. Thank-you to all of you who have looked after a doorstep planter or a logroll planter or a raised bed. We rely on all these very local contributions. If you can come out for a couple of hours a week to join our tiny core team doing public gardening, please let us know via the Town Council Office on 01908 326800. If you live on Greenleys and like the look of the logroll planters and would be willing to look after a new one put around your own road sign, please get in touch. We can start it all off but we need a nearby resident to do the watering, dead-heading and weeding as necessary.

Haversham-cum-Little Linford Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group The Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group and Haversham-cum-Little-Linford Parish Council have been working for a considerable time to prepare a Neighbourhood Plan for the Parish. We have been assisted in this by Oneill Homer, a leading consultancy who have assisted Parish and Town Councils around the country to produce well over 100 Neighbourhood Plans, including several in Milton Keynes. The cost of this consultancy work has been paid for by a government grant. What is a Neighbourhood Plan? A document that sets out planning policies for the neighbourhood area – planning policies are used to decide whether to approve planning applications. Written by the local community, the people who know and love the area, rather than the Local Planning Authority. A powerful tool to ensure the community gets the right types of development, in the right place. What is this document for? We had hoped to hold a public meeting / exhibition to discuss the significant work undertaken so far and find out YOUR views of our policy intents and the potential development sites offered by landowners.

Ousedale School Magazine July 2018 Duxford Air Museum ACE WEEK Pompeii Vietnam School of Rock Birmingham University Pompeii Lulworth Cove Lulworth Cove Paris Abbey Hill Golf Abbey Hill Golf Paris Message from Sue Carbert, Headteacher Dear Parents/Carers Do enjoy this lovely edition of Ousenews. At this time of year, we say goodbye to a number of staff; three staff in particular should be mentioned: Lin Robinson – English Teacher at the Olney campus; Lin who was in charge of English at Olney, and then moved into a new role of Training Teachers, is retiring this summer. She has worked at Ousedale for 13 years. Doug Abrams – Head of Computing and IT, who has led the department for the last 14 years, and throughout his time at Ousedale helped with the technical side of productions, has taken up a new post at the Webber School after 14 years. Finally, Dave Hurley, who has worked at Ousedale for a staggering 31 years; his dedication to PE teaching and extra-curricular PE in particular will be very hard to replace. Dave is retiring from teaching. We wish all three the very best for the future. As you look through this edition I am reminded of our vision statement ‘to enhance and develop our exceptional learning community for all students’. I feel this focus on enriching lives combined with great teaching and exam preparation is what makes Ousedale special; I hope you feel we have made the vision a reality. We look forward to the summer exams results. Sue Carbert | Headteacher Message from Paul McFadden, Deputy Headteacher As we come to the end of another academic year there is much to celebrate and reflect on.
