The Role

Lead the North Queensland Cowboys Athletic Performance Department to ensure the Club is positioned as the leading sporting franchise in Australia in all high performance and training objectives

Key Responsibilities

Athletic Performance Department Management

• Develop policies, standards and procedures for all aspects of the Athletic Performance Department and present the to the Head Coach and Director of Football for consideration • Recommend efficiency improvements as appropriate • Make recommendations on appropriate employee levels and related changes • Manage efficiently all player data including creation of reports • Attend and actively participate in group meetings • Assist with developing the Department’s annual budget and ensure activities are managed within budgetary parameters • Oversee and direct day to day activity of all Athletic Performance coaching staff - Measure of Success – Fulfil obligations to the satisfaction of CEO, Director of Football and Head Coach Planning

• Work closely with Head Coach to develop strategies to optimise the performance of the NRL and ISC teams. • Plan, develop and implement an overall season plan for NRL squad • Consult with relevant coaching staff to set weekly schedules for NRL squad in relation to training load to optimize performance and maximize training Communicate with football department staff as required • Assume game day role as Head Coach requires • Communicate effectively with all other CRLFC departments as required - Measure of Success - Develop and maintain outstanding working relationship with Head Coach to achieve best practice in athlete management and performance

Data and Analysis

• Monitor and set training loads using RPE and GPS data • Analysis of RPE and GPS data in conjunction with Head of Sport Science using relevant data management system to ensure maximum benefits from training • Monitor athlete wellbeing through the use of relevant data management system and other variables • Oversee and manage the physical preparation of NRL team

- Measure of Success - Total knowledge of relevant data management systems and accurate interpretation and use of data in order to maintain best practice athlete management and performance

Athletic Governance

• Manage and communicate with medical staff, consultants and contractors as required • Ensure required committees are supplied with relevant staff to achieve compliance requirements • Ensure relevant qualifications required by the NRL are achieved and maintained by all Performance staff - Measure of Success - 100% compliance with all requirements from governing body and regulators

Work Health and Safety

• 100% Adherence and awareness to all WHS policies/procedures and safety risks including evacuation procedure, incident and hazard reporting • Takes personal responsibility for their own and others workplace safety • Accepting operational responsibility for health and safety performance within the work area under his control • Supporting Health and Safety Officer and First Aid Officer in fulfilling their responsibilities - Measure of Success – (1) 100% compliance with all WHS obligations (2) Zero tolerance for behaviour which displays recklessness or disregard for Club WHS objectives

Committed, Courage and United • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to relate to a broad range of key stakeholders effectively and efficiently • Ability to communicate and display empathy, understanding and care to CRLFC NRL players whilst also maintaining a level of authority in order to achieve excellent results • High level of care to ensure all staff are well supported and empowered to achieve individual, team and Club goals • The ability to manage issues with sensitivity and urgency • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all output

Qualifications & Skills

• Higher Education Bachelor/Master’s degree in Exercise Science/Sports Science or related field • Relevant skills and qualifications as required by CRLFC and NRL • SMA Level 1 – proficient in strapping • Relevant ESSA Accreditation • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the field • Competency in Windows including Word, Excel and Outlook • Basic knowledge of data analytics programs • Strong communication skills • Strong attention to detail • Confidentiality
