Charity www.bethestaryouare.org Digital Fortress is a science fiction book about TRANSLATR, a code in the NSA that, if released, would carry massive implications for national security and US intelligence. The code is written by Tankando, a former NSA employee who felt that the NSA’s intrusions into the private lives of citizens were unjustified. When people in the NSA attempt to break it, they find that it is impossible to break. The NSA hires Susan Fletcher, a cryptographer (expert in coding/decoding), to locate a password that would allow the NSA to stop TRANSLATR. Throughout the plot, Susan encounters various complications that prevent her discovery of the code, including the death of Tankando. This was one of the best science fiction books I have read. Suspenseful cliffhangers throughout the novel kept my eyes glued after every chapter. My favorite parts of the book were definitely the plot twists, which were abundant. The best surprise was a revelation about the person who created TRANSLATR. However, I cannot tell you all of the surprises; you will have to read the book to find out! On the other hand, the book was not without faults. Some of the information presented about cryptology and the NSA weren’t entirely accurate. If you’re especially interested in those fields, the book may not be the best source. However, the slight inaccuracies don’t take away from the plot. In addition, the various perspectives in the book were sometimes difficult to follow, especially if you read the book in many sittings.

Brown (A mathematics teacher) and Connie Brown (Professional musician involved in performing sacred music). He grew up in a house where science and religion coexisted peacefully. While the foundation of science relied on proof, claims, equations and codes, religion relied on faith only, so Dan Brown had the best of both of them together. Whilst in 1985, he went to Seville Spain to do an art history course from the University of Seville. Dan Brown had a short musical career as a songwriter and pianist in which he released four CDs. Then a switch in his happened when he read Sydney Sheldon’s (Doomsday conspiracy) and turned his interest into writing instead of music. He released “Digital Fortress” in 1998, after which he turned to full-time writing. Moreover, in 2000 “Angles & Demons” was published. It sat the stage for the best to come from Dan Brown, and was the first novel that introduced the character “Robert Langdon”, which was subsequently seen in the future works of Brown.

Additionally, every attempt has been made to identify and obtain direct permission to use pictures and images that are not my own property. ii Abstract This thesis examines the Great West Window at Exeter Cathedral designed by William Peckitt of York (1731-95). Peckitt was arguably the most important glass designer of the eighteenth century and undertook prestigious commissions at York, Oxford and elsewhere. In 1764 he was contracted by the Dean of Exeter, Jeremiah Milles, to supply glass to complete the restoration of the Cathedral’s glazing and to make the new window, which has often been considered to be his masterpiece. Peckitt’s Great West Window is no longer extant (although portions of it have been salvaged), having been replaced in 1904 with a window, designed by Messrs Burlison and Grylls, which was itself destroyed by enemy action in 1942.   • Ilbert Family and Bowringsleigh
    The Ilbert Family My interest in the Ilbert family began last year when I was researching some of the names of the men who had died in the First World War and who were remembered on the Thurlestone war memorial. One name was Geoffrey Arthur Ilbert, who, in fact, never lived in Thurlestone, but was killed in action on 28th February 1917 and is descended from this family through his great-grandfather Courtenay Ilbert (1780- 1816). This led me to research the Ilbert family history so that I could understand the various relationships and the context with the Ilbert’s of Bowringsleigh. My research will take us from West Alvington, via Thurlestone and South Milton to Canada, France, India, Australia and New Zealand as well as big game hunting in the Sudan, to the Houses of Parliament and attending Court at Buckingham Palace. The name of ILBERT occurs in Domesday Book, as holding land in the county of Dorset, although it is reputed that the Ilberts came over to England with William the Conqueror and initially settled in the North of England. Prior to the 17th century, the family were wool merchants settled at Rill, in the parish of Buckfastleigh, in Devon. This slide is my interpretation of the Ilbert heraldic shield from the line drawing and the description in “A Genealogical and Heraldic History of the Commoners of Great Britain and Ireland, enjoying Territorial Possessions or High Official Rank but Uninvested with Heritable Honours” by John Burke, published in London in four volumes.
