Editor`s note – Vorwort des Herausgebers preface 1 ENGLISH SHORT PREFACE „Paul Smith“ is a FAKE-IDENTY behind which very probably is a COLLCETIVE of writers and researchers, using a more RATIONAL and SOBER approach towards the complex of Rennes-le-Chateau and to related complex of „Priory of Sion“ (Prieure de Sion of Pierre Plantard, Geradrd de Sede, Phlippe de Cherisey, Jean-Luc Chaumeil and others). Emails to [email protected] will result in answers with prefabricated text by not existing „Paul Smith“ or by a webmaster. Search for PERSONAL INFORMATIONS of PERSONAL COPYRIGHT HOLDERS FAILED TOTALLY: - page-information delivered „no information on page owner“ and no SSL and https, - head-section of html-sourcecode with NO personal informations at all and only very few of expected other metatags. - whois-inquiry delivered answer „melbourneit“, which is an IT-company and domain-name- registrar in AUSTRALIA – and not as expected in Britain. Next step of research led to the REAL SOLUTION: „Melbourne-IT“ is a foundation of University of Melbourne, Australia and has an own wikipedia artice under URL https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melbourne_IT Well, IF there is NO copyright-holder BEYOND doubt, I then felt free to TRANSFORM a WEBPROJECT with 2 bibliographies from html to PRINTREADY-PDF for PAPER-OUTPUT, - CONDENSING „Bibliography Prieure of Sion and Rennes-le-Chateau“ - actual URL http://www.priory-of-sion.com/biblios/pos/prioryofsionbibliography.html – from 187 pages in first test to finally 100 pages Din A4 in pdf, published as paper-edition with dataCD - CONDENSING „Bibliography of Occult and Fantastic Beliefs“ - actual URL http://www.priory- of-sion.com/biblios/occultbibliography.html – from first test with 3000 pages and 500 MB to finally 1000 p. Din A4 splitted into 4 volumes in pdf with 6 MB only. published as dataCD. We may say, that such my interest as EDITOR was restricted to more continental European conventions intended for smooth working in library surroundings of learning and study. Though copyrights are not clear beyond doubt, if at all existing, we cautiously RESTRICT this bibliographical survey to PRIVATE USE and STUDY ONLY and FREE OF CHARGE to everybody, which will be welcomed especially in all those countries, where students have REAL TROUBLE to PAY for books and research materials! The Melbourne-University has the following MOTTO, URL https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Melbourne: „Motto: Postera Crescam Laude Motto in English: "May I grow in the esteem of future generations" It therefor seems appropriate, that this little work is presented in special to: Library (of Univesity of Melbourne), URL http://library.unimelb.edu.au/ email 1: [email protected] email 2 general: [email protected] Editor`s note – Vorwort des Herausgebers preface 2 This little bibliographical work is for cataloguing in the German National Library of course – and will be at least notified to BNF (Bibliotheque National de France). Otherwise it is assumed here, that I am free to fetch for my learning and studies, whatever seems suitable, even if we perhaps should stress the point, that in my upcoming bookproject on Rennes- le-Chateau, there will not occur any need for any magic or occult, which means technically, to attach to lots of INSCRIPTIONS there the proper SOURCEBOOKS from ROMAN-CATHOLIC literature, so that the REST-QUESTION is, WHY other authors normally do NOT REFER sufficiently to those Roman-Catholic sources - including for instance quite CONVENTIONAL ICONOGRAPHY derived from quite conventional HAGIOGRAPHY. Such the only scientific problem for me was the question, whether it would be possible, to decide from working at desk at home, whether there might be in Rennes-le-Chateau church the POSSIBILITY, that „someone“ at „some point in time“ - say for instance somewhere between 1953-1970 – might have applied there BONBON-COLOURS from Barbie-puppets or from Walt- Disney-Studios indicative for a TODAY“bonbon-colour Christianity“, that would please aspecially old-aged folks in Florida or California – or other folks uneducated enough, but wealthy enough as well, to PAY for such COLOURS, that FEW others may even ALIENATE!! Even if we in these modern times, where they seem to have nearly everything forgotten from Aristotle, Plato and the Library of Alexandria, not any longer agree about, what science is, can be or should be, the public perhaps would welcome my decision, NOT to COMMENT on the bibliographies presented here ITSELF, such paving way for the user, to MAKE HIS OWN ADVENTURE TRIP to the books – and, who knows, perhaps even to KNOWLEDGE, if not EDUCATION! At least we perhaps can seperate the scientists from the criminals like Pierre Plantard and his „fraudulent invention“ of the socalled „Prieure de Sion“, CLAIMING DESCENDANCE from MEROWINGIAN ROYAL FAMILY, which really seems exaggerating things and completely out of any reasonable proportion regarding TODAY POLITICS – and perhaps BUSINESS! We thus even may go as far, as to try to conclude here: The TOURIST industry very well might invite to the PILGRIMAGE TO St. Mary of LOURDES as the MAIN EVENT, which may be followed by a short stop at nearby Rennes-le-Chateau. But it would be WASTE of TIME, to try to make Rennes-le-Chateau the MAIN TOURIST OCCASION instead – which indeed is covered by STATISTICAL FIGURES regarding numbers of visitors, especially if analyzing the DECLINE of „European BATHING tourism“ to BIARRITZ and to Rennes-les-Bains, that occurred since the end of the 19th century, where it was quite „en vogue“!

  • The History Spiritualism
THE HISTORY of SPIRITUALISM by ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE, M.D., LL.D. former President d'Honneur de la Fédération Spirite Internationale, President of the London Spiritualist Alliance, and President of the British College of Psychic Science Volume One With Seven Plates PSYCHIC PRESS LTD First edition 1926 To SIR OLIVER LODGE, M.S. A great leader both in physical and in psychic science In token of respect This work is dedicated PREFACE This work has grown from small disconnected chapters into a narrative which covers in a way the whole history of the Spiritualistic movement. This genesis needs some little explanation. I had written certain studies with no particular ulterior object save to gain myself, and to pass on to others, a clear view of what seemed to me to be important episodes in the modern spiritual development of the human race. These included the chapters on Swedenborg, on Irving, on A. J. Davis, on the Hydesville incident, on the history of the Fox sisters, on the Eddys and on the life of D. D. Home. These were all done before it was suggested to my mind that I had already gone some distance in doing a fuller history of the Spiritualistic movement than had hitherto seen the light - a history which would have the advantage of being written from the inside and with intimate personal knowledge of those factors which are characteristic of this modern development. It is indeed curious that this movement, which many of us regard as the most important in the history of the world since the Christ episode, has never had a historian from those who were within it, and who had large personal experience of its development.

  • Secret Sects of Syria and the Lebanon
SECRET SECTS OF SYRIA AND THE LEBANON BERNARD H. SPRINGETT SECRET SECTS OF SYRIA AND THE LEBANON SECRET SECTS OF SYRIA AND THE LEBANON • a CONSIDERATION OF THEIR ORIGIN, CREEDS AND RELIGIOUS CEREMONIES, AND THEIR CONNECTION WITH AND IN- FLUENCE UPON MODERN FREEMASONRY By BERNARD H. SPRINGETT, P.M..P.Z. LONDON: GEORGE ALLEN & UNWIN LTD. RUSKIN HOUSE, 40 MUSEUM STREET, W.C. 1 INTRODUCTION A surprising amount of scorn and ridicule has been the reception accorded by Freemasons, both in Great Britain and in America, to previous attempts to place on record some very plain proofs that we are justified in saying in our Masonic Ritual that " we came from the East and proceeded to the West." The plain fact that much of what we now look upon almost entirely as Freemasonry has been practised as part and parcel of the religions of the Middle East for many thousands of years, lies open for anyone who cares to stop and read, instead of running by. But it is frequently and scornfully rejected by the average Masonic student, and this seems to betoken an unwillingness to credit Masonry with an existence of more than two or three hundred years at most. It is painful to those who, like myself, take a justifiable pride in the antiquity of Masonry, far exceeding that of any other religion in the world known to mankind, to hear it so frequently condemned as completely legendary. In the following pages I have attempted to bring together, from a very large number of sources, reliable evidence as to the prevalence amongst the inhabitants, ancient and modern, of Syria in general and the mountains of the Lebanon in particular, of various ceremonial rites, manners and customs.

Obsessing about the Catholic Other: Religion and the Secularization Process in Gothic Literature Perhaps it was totally predictable that the past year has seen both the publication of a major book by Lennard Davis entitled Obsession!, as well as a new two player board game called "Obsession" in which one player wins by moving his ten rings along numbered slots. Interest in obsession, it would seem, is everywhere in high and low cultures. For Davis, obsession is both a cultural manifestation of what modernity has wrought, and a psychoanalytical phenomenon: in fact, he defines it as a recurring thought whose content has become disconnected from its original significance causing the dominance of repetitive mental intrusions (Davis 6). Recent studies have revealed that there are five broad categories of obsession: dirt and contamination, aggression, the placing of inanimate objects in order, sex, and finally religion2 Another recent study, however, claims that obsessive thoughts generally center on three main themes: the aggressive, the sexual, or the blasphemous (qtd. Davis 9). It is that last category - the blasphemous - that I think emerges in British gothic literature of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, particularly as seen in the persistent anti-Catholicism that plays such a central role in so many of those works (Radcliffe's The italian, Lewis's The Monk, and Maturin's Melmoth the Wanderer being only the most obvious).

  • The Changing Role of Leah Hirsig in Aleister Crowley's Thelema, 1919
Aries – Journal for the Study of Western Esotericism 21 (2021) 69–93 ARIES brill.com/arie Proximal Authority The Changing Role of Leah Hirsig in Aleister Crowley’s Thelema, 1919–1930 Manon Hedenborg White Södertörn University, Stockholm, Sweden [email protected] Abstract In 1920, the Swiss-American music teacher and occultist Leah Hirsig (1883–1975) was appointed ‘Scarlet Woman’ by the British occultist Aleister Crowley (1875–1947), founder of the religion Thelema. In this role, Hirsig was Crowley’s right-hand woman during a formative period in the Thelemic movement, but her position shifted when Crowley found a new Scarlet Woman in 1924. Hirsig’s importance in Thelema gradually declined, and she distanced herself from the movement in the late 1920s. The article analyses Hirsig’s changing status in Thelema 1919–1930, proposing the term proximal authority as an auxiliary category to MaxWeber’s tripartite typology.Proximal authority is defined as authority ascribed to or enacted by a person based on their real or per- ceived relational closeness to a leader. The article briefly draws on two parallel cases so as to demonstrate the broader applicability of the term in highlighting how relational closeness to a leadership figure can entail considerable yet precarious power. Keywords Aleister Crowley – Leah Hirsig – Max Weber – proximal authority – Thelema 1 Introduction During the reign of Queen Anne of Great Britain (1665–1714), Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough (1660–1744), was the second most powerful woman in the kingdom. As the queen’s favourite, the Duchess overcame many restrictions hampering women of the time.

  • Christianity As the Pleroma
CHRISTIANITY AS THE PLEROMA. BY THE EDITOR. [continued.] GNOSTICISM AND THE PERIOD OF TRANSITION. WE call Christianity the grandchild of paganism because there is an intermediate link between Christianity and the ancient polytheistic paganism of Graeco-Roman mythology. Ancient pagan- ism represents a stage in the religious development of mankind which has become typical for all religions characterized by being limited to well-defined boundaries. These boundaries were very narrow in the beginning. There were state religions in Athens, in Sparta, in Ephesus, in Syracuse, in Rome, in the several cities of Egypt, in Tyre and Sidon, in the great centers of population in Babylonia, Assyria, Phoenicia etc., and the mass of people in each district came little in contact with their neighbors. But as trade and commerce expanded, people of different cities became acquainted with each other and with their several religious views. The different legends were retold in foreign countries and persisted there, so far as it was possible, side by side with the native religion. We know that much confusion originated in this way ; e. g., the genealogies of the gods were different in different cities, and so were the mar- riage relations between gods and goddesses. Thus in Greece when the different local traditions were combined and systematized, the conflicting traditions were adjusted as well as could be done in the haphazard way in which the religious development took place. It is in this shape that Greek mythology has been preserved in the well-known poem of Hesiod, and students of classic lore are some- times puzzled by the many contradictions.

  • Illuminati Conspiracy Part One: a Precise Exegesis on the Available Evidence
http://www.conspiracyarchive.com/NWO/Illuminati.htm Illuminati Conspiracy Part One: A Precise Exegesis on the Available Evidence - by Terry Melanson, Aug. 5th, 2005 Illuminati Conspiracy Part Two: Sniffing out Jesuits A Metaprogrammer at the Door of Chapel Perilous In the literature that concerns the Illuminati relentless speculation abounds. No other secret society in recent history - with the exception of Freemasonry - has generated as much legend, hysteria, and disinformation. I first became aware of the the Illuminati about 14 years ago. Shortly thereafter I read a book, written by Robert Anton Wilson, called Cosmic Trigger: Final Secret of the Illuminati. Wilson published it in 1977 but his opening remarks on the subject still ring true today: Briefly, the background of the Bavarian Illuminati puzzle is this. On May 1, 1776, in Bavaria, Dr. Adam Weishaupt, a professor of Canon Law at Ingolstadt University and a former Jesuit, formed a secret society called the Order of the Illuminati within the existing Masonic lodges of Germany. Since Masonry is itself a secret society, the Illuminati was a secret society within a secret society, a mystery inside a mystery, so to say. In 1785 the Illuminati were suppressed by the Bavarian government for allegedly plotting to overthrow all the kings in Europe and the Pope to boot. This much is generally agreed upon by all historians. 1 Everything else is a matter of heated, and sometimes fetid, controversy. It has been claimed that Dr. Weishaupt was an atheist, a Cabalistic magician, a rationalist, a mystic; a democrat, a socialist, an anarchist, a fascist; a Machiavellian amoralist, an alchemist, a totalitarian and an "enthusiastic philanthropist." (The last was the verdict of Thomas Jefferson, by the way.) The Illuminati have also been credited with managing the French and American revolutions behind the scenes, taking over the world, being the brains behind Communism, continuing underground up to the 1970s, secretly worshipping the Devil, and mopery with intent to gawk.

Two months after he had collaborated with the colonial government in Guadeloupe to formalize plans to create a new colony for leprosy sufferers on a nearby deserted island of La Désirade, he received news that his well-established colleague in Martinique, also a royal physician, had written an excoriating response to their joint report. • Alchemical Reference in Antony and Cleopatra
SYDNEY STUDIES Alchemical Reference in Antony and Cleopatra LYNDALL ABRAHAM Lepidus: Your serpent of Egypt is bred now of your mud by the operation of your sun: so is your crocodile. (II.vii.26-7) The phrase "the operation of your sun" is a distinctly alchemical term. It refers to the opus alchymicum as a whole and is first known to occur in one of the oldest and most famous alchemical documents, the Emerald Table: "What I have said concerning the operation of the Sun is finished."1 The Tabula Smaragdina or Emerald Table, ascribed to Hermes Tris megistus or the Egyptian Thoth, was not only one of the most important sources of medieval alchemy, but continued to be considered as the basis of alI alchemical law by alchemists right through to the seventeenth cen tury. The earliest known version was discovered by E. J. Holmyard in an eighth-century Arabic text, and it was translated into Latin around the time of the thirteenth century. The first English translation appears as a part of Roger Bacon's The Mirror of Alchimy (London 1597). The con tents of the influential Table occur repeatedly in both Renaissance and seventeenth-century alchemical treatises, including John Dee's Monas Hieroglyphica (1564: reprinted in 1591 and included in the alchemical anthology Theatrum Chemicum in 1602), the De Alchemia (1541-Table included in full), George Ripley's The Compound of Alchymie (1591), William Bloomfield's Bloomfield's Blossoms, Thomas Norton's Ordinal of Alchemy (1477), and Michael Maier's Atalanta Fugiens (1617).2 In Euphrates or The Waters
