not of this earth 1995 download torrent Not of this earth 1995 download torrent. From Aural Innovations #23 (April 2003) I'll start off by saying with no reservations that this is one of the most beautiful CD packages I've ever seen. It's also available as a 4-LP set which I haven't seen but I can only imagine must be gorgeous. The Black Widow label has pulled out all the stops for this one, and while it took quite some time to get it released the results are well worth the wait. The 3 CD's that make up the set consist of 40 bands covering the Space Rock, Psychedelic, Progressive and Metal realms (Space Rock is heavily represented), all contributing music that was supposed to have been influenced by a particular science fiction film, though television shows are included too. All tracks are exclusive to this set. A thick CD sized booklet has limited information about all the bands and a brief synopsis of each film. My only gripe is that they could have done a better job of listing contact information for the bands. Lots of them have web sites that aren't listed. The good news is that the excellent pictures of Quarkspace that my wife took are included! Also included is a 65 page book titled The Fantastic Screen with articles in English and Italian. Topics cover the development of sci-fi cinema through the years, social and political themes in the sci-fi films of the 50's, The movie Them!, sex in sci-fi films, a very interesting series of articles covering Italian sci-fi films, a detailed series guide to The Prisoner television show along with a Patrick McGoohan filmography, and a Prisoner comic. There are 40 contributors across the 3-CDS. And yes, I'm going to give you a quick rundown on all of them. Hawkwind's tribute to "When Worlds Collide" is actually a live version of Sonic Attack (I highly doubt "When Worlds Collide" was in mind when Sonic Attack was written). There was some discussion about this track on the Hawk/BOC list a little while back and what's strange about it is that the lineup is listed as Brock/Davey/Chadwick/Tree, and while the music certainly sounds like it's from the Love In Space era it also certainly sounds like Robert Calvert on vocals. Interesting. Alan Davey's "Forbidden Planet" tribute is an interesting track, having something of a Pink Floyd circa Animals sound, only much spacier. I wouldn't have recognized it as Alan. Adrian Shaw's film of choice is "Silent Running". It's a trademark Shaw song and you can tell by the lyrics he did write it for this set. For his tribute to Day Of The Triffids, Pete Pavli plays synth, guitar, and viola through a delay unit to create multiple layers of repeating patterns. Very interesting and definitely one of the more avant-garde contributions to the set. Mr Quimby's Beard's "Quartermass And The Pit" is classic Quimby. dark, dramatic, heavy, and totally spaced. Architectural Metaphor , one of America's oldest underground Space Rock bands, contributes a killer tribute to "Dune", with Paul Eggleston's massive keyboards and Greg Kozlowski's ripping and highly intense guitar licks. These guys excel at combining cosmic and symphonic elements. Stylistically this would be very much at home on their Creature Of The Velvet Void album. British space rockers Dr. Hasbeen cover "Apollo 13" and the music is very much like what I've heard from them in the past, being a pounding slab of heavy Hawk rock. Very nice. Right along the same lines is PXR.1 , ex-Spacehead member Phil Howard's band whose tribute to "The Day The Earth Stood Still" sounds almost exactly like mid-90's Hawkwind, but it's a very cool track all the same. Finnish spacers Dark Sun have, regrettably, only released one full length CD of original material, so this lengthy track recorded live with Nik Turner on sax is a much welcome addition to the set. Quarkspace's tribute to Soylent Green ha a very dark cosmic factory-like feel. Very cool freaky sounds and atmospherics. Texas space-punk greats ST-37's tribute to "Metropolis" is of particular interest because the band have performed the soundtrack to the film live as it was being shown, and indeed this track is from one of those shows, recorded live at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in 1998. I'm a huge fan of "Metropolis" and would LOVE to have seen one of these performances. Nirnaeth Space Lab is an mightily impressive space rock band from Italy who I'd never heard of before. Their tribute to the "Space 1999" TV show is a total cosmic freakout. Really pounding brain slamming stuff. Most definitely a band to check out further. I know Paul Chain has been around and apparently has a lot of recordings available but I've never heard his music before now. His tribute to "The Twilight Zone" series consists of very intense space electronics and more, designed just perfectly for a film soundtrack. At 8 minutes it's one of the longer tracks of the set and has a dramatic narrative feel throughout. Most excellent. Krel's Martin M. (who by the way finally has a new album out soon on Dead Earnest) does an absolutely luscious tribute to "2001 A Space Odyssey". Floating ambient space, soundscapes, and meditative bliss are all the order of the day here. Quite beautiful. But there's also a hidden bit where it looks like Krel get 13 minutes but the music ends after about 8, and then after several minutes of silence we get classic soundbites from "The Prisoner" and a very brief but blazing rocking rendition of the theme to the show. Malleus is Enrico Ragni and his tribute to "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind" incorporates the recognizable notes from the film used to communicate with the extraterrestrials into a majestic slab of floating symphonic space. Though I think they're better known as a doom-metal band, Candlemass' tribute to "Planet Of The Apes" sees the band using mostly strings to create dark atmospherics, and does so to eerie effect. You can probably tell from their name that Fulvio Tori's Madre Del Vizio are from Italy, and their tribute to the UFO S.H.A.D.O. television series is a very short but very cool electro space rocker with a good mix of heavy electro-rock and dreamy sympho bits. Sundial contribute a fairly spot-on rendition of "The Prisoner" television theme. Fantasyy Factoryy are a British acid psych band. I've got one of their CD which incidentally was produced by Gary Ramon of Sundial. Their tribute to "Orion" is a high energy rocker that is very different from the music on the CD of theirs I have. Mooseheart Faith Stellar Groove Band's tribute to "Chariots Of The Gods" is performed in a gorgeous early 70's heavy prog-psych style. I really like these guys. From Finland, Moon Fog Prophet counts among it's members Mika Ratto of Circle. Their tribute to the film of the same name (never heard of it) has elements of early 70's heavy prog with guitar edging out the keyboards a bit as dominant instrument. Universal Totem Orchestra is an Italian band that in 7 minutes runs a stylistic gamut from classic orchestral progressive rock, complex avant-prog, ripping rock, and jazz. And they have an excellent operatic female vocalist. Presence is an Italian band whose tribute to "Contact" is a metallic brand of heavy guitar/keyboard dominated progressive rock with little spacey bits peppered throughout. Some of it is a little too accessible for me but the band do display some more intricate compositional skills. And another impressive female vocalist. Wounded Knee is an Italian band who plays a similar brand of heavy progressive rock with metal influences on their tribute to the "Alien" trilogy. Standarte are an excellent Italian band that I'm well familiar with. This is a bit laid back for them but it may well suit the film it's from, an Italian flick called "La Ragazza di Latta". Doctor Theatre is from Texas and is apparently one guy named Stephen Romano on all instruments. His tribute to "Contamination" is a heavy but ethereal brand of progressive rock that was apparently originally recorded by the great Italian band Goblin. Ars Nova is a Japanese keyboards/bass/drums trio that are heavily influenced by ELP and their "War Of The Worlds" contribution is precisely in that style. So if that's your cup of tea you should note that they do it pretty darn good. The band consists of three impish women and I'll never forget seeing them at the ProgDay festival a couple years ago when right in the middle of their set one of them came out in a leather and whip getup and did this weird S&M act to a drum solo and then nonchalantly launched back into their full band ELP thing. Pretty wild. Versailles is an Italian band whose "Zardoz" tribute is a dirty rocking style of progressive rock but with both organ and symphonic keyboards. Good stuff. I'd like to hear more from them. Malombra is from Italy and their "Village Of The Damned" tribute is a pounding slab of theatrical progressive metal. A very cool sound. I'll have to explore more of their music. Helden Rune , also from Italy, play a dark, Gothic, orchestral music with a definite soundtrack feel on this tribute to "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers". I've never heard of Sethian and there's pretty much no information about them here except to note that they were formerly a band called Nattvindens Graat. But their tribute to "Altered States" is a fairly standard heavy metal tune with keyboards to give it a progressive rock edge. Nothing exciting. I really like Japanese stoner-psych band Eternal Elysium's two albums on the Meteor City label and their tribute to "Godzilla" is a pounding, acidic, mind-bending take on the classic theme from the early Godzilla flicks. Reverend Bizarre are a Finnish band I've never heard of who do an all too brief tribute to the "Dr. Who" series. It's metallic but spacey and electronic. I'd be interested in hearing more from these guys. American prog-metal band Braindance offers up a dreamy, orchestral, and sometimes freaky tribute to "Dark City". Peter Frohmader does his classic keyboard and electronics thing for a tribute to "Saturn 3". An excellent mixture of symphonics and orchestral electronica. Death SS is an Italian band whose tribute to master of surrealism Luis Bunuel's "Milky Way" is characterized by dark Gothic electronica that has a drifting quality, but also includes dance beats and bleepy alien sounds. Deviate Damaen are from Italy and use pounding dance beats and efx'd narrative voicings in their tribute to "Star Trek", in this case focusing on the Borg. If you're still craving dance beats and electronica, Kirlian Camera will fit the bill with their tribute to "Solaris". Rave beats, a brain piercing electronic laser beam, atmospheric keys, and super intense vocals make this one of the more interesting of the electronica entries on the set. I've never heard of The Soil Bleeds Black but their web site indicates they're from Virginia. Their tribute to Krull features very nice Celtic/Renaissance/Medieval music. Doomsday Gouvernment are from Sweden and apparently evolved from a band called Count Raven. Their tribute to The Thing is very short and other than it being decent soundtrack music there's not much to say about them. In summary, this is an excellent compilation that has been lovingly assembled and will provide you with hours of thoroughly pleasurable listening and discovery. Check it out! Torrent: JOE SATRIANI - NOT OF THIS EARTH (1986, 2008) [MP3320] Jego znakiem rozpoznawczym są długie, skomplikowane technicznei utwory o tytułach rodem z filmów science-fiction. Kto to taki? Choć występował już z grupą Deep Purple i uczestniczył w solowym projekcie Micka Jaggera, wciąż pozostaje przede wszystkim gitarzystą podążającym własną drogą. Tytuł "Not Of This Earth" i zawartość krążka stanowią początek muzycznych poszukiwań muzyka o (dosłownie) kosmicznych zdolnościach i pomysłach. Joe pokazuje się z różnych stron: prezentuje ocierający się o funk utwór "The Snake", smutną balladę "Memories", tajemniczy i lekko psychodeliczny "The Enigmatic" oraz nastrajający optymistycznie "New Day". Mimo iż Satch gra na "Not Of This Earth" sporo świetnych solówek, to nie wydaje mi się, by album był przeładowany gitarowym wymiataniem. 1. Not Of This Earth 4:04 2. The Snake 4:43 3. Rubina 5:56 4. The band was originally called Amon, and recorded two demos under this name, which were later released on CD as "Amon - Feasting The Beast." They changed the name to Deicide in late 1989, just prior to the recording of the self-titled debut. This was done at the insistence of their then-label, Roadrunner Records, because there was a song called "'Amon' Belongs to 'Them'" on the King Diamond album, "Conspiracy." Deicide: \De"i*cide\, n. [L. deicida a deicide (in sense 2); deus god + c[ae]dere to cut, kill: cf. F. d['e]icide.] 1. The act of killing a being of a divine nature; particularly, the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. [R.] Earth profaned, yet blessed, with deicide. --Prior. 2. One concerned in putting Christ to death. In the early days of the band, and apparently to show how much he despises Christianity, branded an inverted cross into his forehead using nothing but a flaming coat hanger. After seven times embedding a red hot inverted cross into his skin, it has scarred into its shape. On November 25th, 2004 Glen Benton officially stated that the Hoffman brothers would no longer be in the band due to them canceling and walking off many shows, among other personal issues. The main reason the brothers left was actually a change in the percentages of royalties between the band. Previously, there had been an even four-way split. Under the new agreement the Hoffmans were entitled to a far smaller share of the profits (with as much as 50% going to Benton). The Hoffmans have since started a new band, using Deicide's original name Amon. , recently out of and , who had worked with Benton in Vital Remains came in to help Deicide on tour. Owen stayed on but Suzuki's place was taken by Ralph Santolla for the recording of "The Stench of Redemption." Glen Benton missed the entire European tour for this album, which carried on anyway with help from some eleventh hour replacements. Seth Van De Loo (who was playing drums for the support band, Severe Torture) performed vocals on the first four dates of the tour due to the last-minute nature of Benton's decision not to travel. They played these gigs with no bass player. Garbathy "Yaha" of Dissenter was then brought in as replacement bassist/vocalist for the remaining dates. Jack Owen also performed lead vocals on some songs at these shows. This obviously controversial tour followed on from two European tours which were canceled at the last minute in the 1990s. Ralph Santolla officially left Deicide in 2007 but performed on "Till Death Do Us Part" as a session musician. also contributed to the guitar playing on this album for the first time. Kevin Quirion, who plays with Steve Asheim in Council of the Fallen/Order of Ennead, joined Deicide in 2008 as a touring replacement for Santolla. Santolla briefly returned in 2009 but soon left again and Quirion joined as a permanent member in July that year. *** In 1992, while Gorefest were opening for Deicide in Stockholm, a bomb exploded outside the emergency door behind their stage (which was on the fifth floor of the building), causing extensive structural damage to the door and the wall. Some people thought that Gorefest, a politically correct band, was attacked by people involved in the black metal scene, but in reality the bomb was planted by the Animal Militia, a UK-based pro-animals group, aimed at Deicide playing later that evening. Glen Benton had received earlier death-threats over his stance on mutilating small animals, and afterward received another letter saying that "Stockholm was just a taste of what is to come." Glen Benton has also done backing vocals on the song "Hung, Drawn and Quartered" by Cancer on the album "Death Shall Rise", for Napalm Death on the song "Unfit Earth" on their breakthrough album, "Harmony Corruption" and for Cannibal Corpse on the songs "Mangled" and "A Skull Full Of Maggots" from the album "Eaten Back To Life" and on the song "Vomit The Soul" from the album "Butchered At Birth". In 2007, Steve Asheim was arrested and held for police questioning in Austria after presenting money to a bank teller that was covered in red ink. The police believed him to be involved in a recent bank robbery, so he was taken in. After hours of questioning, it was discovered that a red pen had leaked in his pocket, staining the money. Asheim was released without further questioning. 1990 Deicide 1992 Legion 1993 Amon: Feasting The Beast (Best Of Compilation) 1995 1997 1998 When Satan Lives (Live) 2000 Insineratehymn 2001 2003 The Best Of Deicide (Best Of Compilation) 2004 2006 The Stench of Redemption (666) EP 2006 The Stench Of Redemption 2006 Doomsday L.A. EP 2008 Till Death Do Us Part 2011 . It isnt that I hate Christianity. Its that I have no use for it. I cant understand why people need an absurd mythological framework in order to know how to lead their lives and be good human beings. If Christianity never existed, or was suddenly erased from our collective consciousness, society wouldnt collapse into bedlam. The morals that guide us have nothing whatsoever to do with the fictitious man upstairs, never have, never will. It is precisely because I find Christianity so ridiculous that I get a kick out of some good ol fashioned Christ-bashing. For me, listening to Floridian stalwarts Deicides tenth album, To Hell with God, is no different than watching Monty Python and the Holy Grail or reading Richard Dawkins God Delusion. Railing against and pointing out the absurdities of Christianity takes on many forms. It just so happens that Deicides approach to doing so involves distorted guitars, blastbleats, and lyrics that the average Christian would refer to as blasphemous. What better way to attack something as willfully over-the-top and ludicrous as Christianity than with death metal, a genre of music that is equally over-the-top? Its certainly nothing new, but it makes perfect sense and Deicide have been doing it a hell of a lot longer than most. Its also what makes Deicide so much fun to listen to, and To Hell with God is certainly above all a fun listen, packed as it is with blisteringly-played, short and to-the-point death metal. Glen Benton and Co. have always had a knack for concise and catchy songwriting, something thats generally lost on their death metal brethren. While other bands drag on for eight minutes at a time with not a hook in sight, Deicide brings the catchy refrains in almost every song, rarely breaching the four minute mark. It is a formula that works exceptionally well for them. Throughout the course of this blog, I have continually stressed the importance of writing actual songs and To Hell with God is a prime example of how to execute memorable songs within an extreme music framework. Of course, some will argue that Deicide have been doing the exact same thing since 1990′s Deicide, but so what? If it aint broke, dont fix it as they say, and besides, does anyone actually buy a Deicide album looking for anything even remotely resembling progression? Hell no, you buy a Deicide album to get a fix of highly headbang-able, highly satanic meat n potatoes skull-crushing death metal, and on this front To Hell with God more than delivers. If you want progression, go buy a Cynic record, you big sissy. It doesnt hurt that To Hell with God is probably the best-sounding album of Deicides career, especially after the near-unlistenable murkiness of Til Death Do Us Part. The band sounds positively huge and clear as a bell (witch), thanks to producer Mark Lewis, who has apparently twiddled the knobs for Devildriver (barf) and The Black Dahlia Murder (meh). Ralph Santollas ultra-fluid leads cut through the mix like a hot knife through butter, giving the band an almost power metal-like shred factor. Bentons blast-furnace roar sounds as ferocious as ever, and it doesnt sound like there is as much vocal multi-tracking going on as in the past, which actually makes him sound that much more evil. Drummer Steve Asheim and guitarist Jack Owen are the primary songwriters here and they make the most of their considerable skills, the drums and rhythm guitars locking in together perfectly throughout To Hell with God for maximum devastation. Deicide has been around for over twenty years now. To Hell with God (and the equally excellent The Stench of Redemption from 2006) proves that theyre still just as capable of producing ass-kicking, Crucifix-crushing death metal as they were in 1989, in spite of numerous ups and downs throughout the years. At this point it might just be part of their schtick, but I give Deicide credit for continuing to bluntly tell the good lord where to stick it in an age when limp-wristed Christian right bands are parading around calling themselves death metal on bullshit labels like Solid State. Do me a favor fellas, take your fucking girls jeans and swoopy haircuts back to Sunday school and leave the death metal to Deicide. Go now, your lord is dead. Not of This Earth. An anemic alien comes to Earth from a dying planet, in the remake of the Corman 50s classic. Director. Language. Genres. 83 mins More at IMDb TMDb Report this film. Popular reviews. "I beat you dickwad, you can't get me now. " A few of the Roger Corman Presents are remakes of his more notable or notorious output, though few would consider the 1957 original to be at the forefront of his works. The selection of Not of This Earth is more likely due to our glowing eyed alien costing less than the special effects for crab monsters. Name recognition would be more owing to the film's first remake, the 1988 Jim Wynorski version, famed for being underaged pornstar Traci Lord's first mainstream cinematic appearance. Where the original easily eclipses these retreads was a script by the devilishly witty, Charles B. Griffith. The humour remains here, with the alien's dry attempts to blend… Why are there three versions of this cheesy story? Why did I watch all three? Less akin to classic Corman than it is a dime store knockoff of Cronenberg or an even cheaper version of Brian Yuzna’s aesthetic. Pulsating alien brains throb & light up in coital moans; sensual tentacles creep through the walls to suck on victims’ necks; the lead space-vamp writhes orgasmically while masturbating his own intestinal protrusions. It’s a gross-out horror cheapie in just the right way. It may mistakenly believe that the only reason the Corman original didn’t rely on over-the-top creature designs & nightmarish sexuality was budgetary, but at least its hideous monsters and even more hideous sex are more compelling than Wynorski’s eyeroll-worthy attempts at nudie-cutie titillation. Neither remake was necessary or revelatory, but this one delivers the genre goods. During his mid 90s gig with Showtime, executive producer Roger Corman remade a handful of his earlier film titles(including PIRANHA and HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP) with this second remake of his 1957 film being amongst them,as this version is told from the side of the alien Johnson(Michael York[LOGAN'S RUN,TRANSFORMERS:REVENGE OF THE FALLEN]) as he undertakes his mission to collect blood for his dying planet while staying at a large estate home with both his devoted servant(Richard Belzer[SCARFACE ,THE GROOVE TUBE]) and his newly hired nurse(Elizabeth Barondes[ADRENALINE:FEAR THE RUSH,BAD ASS 2:BADASSES]) as they both slowly grow suspicious of York andt he various people that pay him a visit but mysteriously disappear, with Barondes' cop boyfriend(Parker Stevenson[STROKER ACE,A SEPARATE PEACE]) and a local doctor(Mason Adams[THE… Let's try this again. Very first scene is a couple doing some heavy petting, with the guy saying "My nads are the size of beach-balls," so that wasn't promising. But as soon as Michael York showed up in the role of the alien, things improved. I appreciated this version's increased emphasis on the visitor learning rules, laws, and social expectations, and the addition of super-speed-reading. More emotional depth to him than in the original, and more conflict. Jennifer Coolidge has a bit part as a nurse, John Carl Buechler has a cameo, Richard Belzer has a main role, and most everyone seems to be putting real effort into their acting. There's some nice moody lighting, too, and the alien communication… All kinds of wtf. Like half a dozen mid nineties sci fi movies I barely remember renting from the blockbuster across from the mall during that time. The screenplay may have been written by actual space vampires.
