Type 1 was presented at the 1889 Exposition Universelle (World Fair) in Paris. The beginning of a great automobile adventure! This year L’Aventure Peugeot Museum is celebrating the anniversaries of the 201 (90 years old), the 304 (50), the 505 (40), and the 605 (30), the latter thus entering the collection. Several rare models have been taken out of mothballs, including a 505 coupé and a 505 cabriolet. Historical slide shows (using archive photos and videos) are being screened alongside the vehicles. For the 50th anniversary of PEUGEOT 304, L'Amicale 204-304 gathered its members in Sochaux on May 30th. More than fifty 304 are expected in front of the Museum entrance. If you are also the proud owner of a 304, we invite you to join them between 3 pm and 6 pm on Thursday 30 May. At the heart of the museum, 4 versions of the 304 are on display: a magnificent blue sedan, a yellow coupe, a red cabriolet that participated in the show "Julie's notebooks" and a rally version in the competition area. Launched in September 1969, the PEUGEOT 304 is extrapolated from the 204 and aims to occupy the mid-range niche. From its older, the 304 retains the wheelbase and the central part of the body but the stern has been lengthened.

    Peugeots fabrik i Sochaux firar 100 år! PSA Peugeot Citroëns fabrik i Sochaux i nordöstra Frankrike är en av världens äldsta industrianläggningar för biltillverkning och nu firar fabriken hundra år. I samband med 100-årsjubileet öppnade utställningen ”M14 – Expo of the Century” den 10 september, och invigdes av Thierry Peugeot och Philippe Varin från PSA Peugeot Citroëns styrelse. Fabriken i Sochaux var den första stora fabriken i Frankrike och en viktig symbol för bilindustrin. Den grundades av familjen Peugeot 1912 för tillverkning av lastbilar, och det var först efter andra världskriget som företaget beslöt att koncentrera all sin tillverkning till denna fabrik. Idag har fabriken den största produktionskapaciteten av alla PSA-koncernens anläggningar med 12 000 anställda. PSA-gruppen har investerat 200 miljoner euro i en ny produktionslina och en moderniserad lackeringsateljé. Mer än 20 miljoner bilar har tillverkats i Sochaux sedan starten, däribland Peugeot 201, 402, 203, 403, 404 och 504, och idag tillverkas 1 670 bilar per dag; Peugeot 308, 3008, 5008 och Citroën DS5, samt hybridmodellerna. Av de 12 000 anställda ligger 4 000 under Research & Development. 100-årsjubileet firas till alla de män och kvinnors ära, som i alla år omvandlat obearbetat stål till färdiga, och med åren alltmer avancerade bilar. Utifrån valspråket ”Vår styrka hämtas från historien” firas 100-årsjubileet i Sochaux på flera sätt; Mellan den 15 september och den 15 oktober pågår en omfattande historisk utställning, ”M14 – Expo of the Century”, bestående av tusentals unika och aldrig tidigare visade dokument och foton från fabrikens arkiv. Den 16 september öppnar fabriken dörrarna till en familjedag, då de anställda visar upp fabriken för allmänheten genom att man får se fabriken från cykelsadeln.

Nous avons voulu recréer cette atmosphère pour rendre hommage aux stylistes de Peugeot qui ont su dessiner pour la 301 des carrosseries dignes des plus grands. 53 Elle a le charme discret de la bourgeoisie, l'austérité qui témoigne du sérieux de la construction et les tons gais seyant à une carrosserie découverte, avant-gardiste qui plus est avec sa robe à traîne aérodynamique ... ylvestre Wieczorek, le propriétaire de cette 301, entend souvent lorsqu'il sort sa voiture: "Elle est bien refaite, cette queue de castor 1" Avec le ton docte de ceux qui savent et l' œil brillant de ceux ~ qui aiment, il rectifie prestement: "ce n'est pas une queue de castor (les castors ont la queue plate, c'est bien connu. NDLR),c'est une robe à traîne, J'un des dessins aérodynamiques expérimentaux de 1934". En cette année-là en effet, le maître mot était le profilage des carros- series, argument beaucoup plus publicitaire que scientifique d'ailleurs, et les ingénieurs de Sochaux se creusaient la tête et usaient leurs crayons à concevoir des arrières fuyants. La robe à traîne en est la dernière variante, caractérisée par sa ceinture de caisse qui tombe en double courbure. Il en fut construit quelques berlines et 149 coaches découvrables comme celui-ci.

And as it happens, there’s a new development on the car front right now: a group of enthusiasts have decided to form a new club, to be the Grand Oldtimers Car Club, meeting at The Grand at 7pm on the second Wednesday of the month. There have already been two meetings, last month and this month, which have generated a surprising level of interest. It now has its own secretary, Roy Stenning, an organiser for local visits, David Godden, an organiser for possible international visits, Tom Sullivan - well, France at least! - and an enthusiastic core of about 20 members, achieved solely by word of mouth. And some are doing sterling work today helping with the arrangements, particularly the judging. In order to get more information for events other than the planned monthly meetings, at which all are welcome, go onto the Oldtimer website page and sign up by clicking on the banner at the top. Arrangements are intended to be informal, with all information being dealt with electronically thus avoiding the need for any subscription.
