The ING UPDATE PUBLICATION Corkcicle. AWARDS NIGHT AT 29TH ANNUAL ING SPRING CONFERENCE New ING Jan Stephenson Entrepreneur Award Will Go To Its Namesake

The International Network of Golf has created the ING Jan Stephenson Entrepreneur Award, recognizing outstanding business achievement in the golf industry. The award periodically will go to “a person who has utilized innovative and leadership abilities while develop- ing an idea into a successful venture in the golf industry.” And the first recipient will be the award’s namesake, 2019 World Golf Hall Of Fame inductee Jan Stephenson. She will be recognized at the 29th Annual ING Spring Conference, set for May 19-23, 2019 at the Chateau Elan Hotel and Conference Center in Sebring, FL. The ceremony will take place at the Tuesday night banquet. Stephenson will enter the Word Golf Hall of Fame this June thanks to a playing career that produced 41 world- wide victories, 16 LPGA Tour wins, three major champi- onships including the 1983 U.S. Open Championship, and 10 LPGA Legends Tour victories. She joins fellow ING Member Dennis Walters, , Peggy Kirk Bell and Billy Payne as the newest inductees. Her ventures in the golf industry carry Hall of Fame credentials as well. They include: • Jan Stephenson Wines. Her award-winning lineup includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot and Jan’s Reserve. • Golf course design - Generally acknowledged as the first woman pro to turn her hand to architecture, Stephen- son interned with Pete and Alice Dye before striking out on her own as an architect. Tom Mirus, who for over 20 years has volunteered to assist the United States Blind Golf Association in various capacities, has been named recipient of the ING’s Dennis Walters Courage Award. The presentation will be made at the 29th Annual ING Spring Conference, set for May 19-23, 2019 at the Chateau Elan Hotel and Conference Center in Sebring, Florida. The Dennis Walters Courage Award goes to an individual who has overcome great odds to play, and contribute to, the game of golf. It is presented by the non-profit International Network of Golf, where media and the golf industry connect. Anyone in the golf business or media who covers golf is eligible to join ING and attend the conference. The award is named after Dennis Walters, a paralyzed from the waist down after a golf cart accident who has since become one of the leading trick shot performers in golf. Walters plans on attending the ING Spring Conference to present the award to Mirus at the Tuesday Night Banquet. Mirus is the only known vision impaired / legally blind golfer to earn a PGA card. He was born with cataracts in both of his eyes, yet in his prime posted a 4 handicap. He received a scholarship to play golf at Murray State University in Kentucky, and went on to compete in NCAA sanctioned tournaments and serve as golf professional at numerous prestigious clubs. Mirus, who is the Director of the highly successful Golfweek Amateur Golf Tour in Orlando, has served as the Senior Rules Officials of the USBGA since 1998. He also serves as the USBGA Director of Educa- tion, and conducts seminars for fellow PGA/LPGA professionals about teaching and coaching blind golfers. He also directs several tournaments for blind golfers around the country. Mirus is a special volunteer who brings a professional touch to the organization and exemplifies the designation “friend of the USBGA and blind golf”.

If you are a golfer who likes to play Cornhole in your backyard or favorite bar, then you are going to love Chippo. The invention of two avid golfers, Matt Moss and Brendan McAuley, Chippo plays just like Cornhole, but instead of pitching beanbags at the target, you chip golf balls. There are various games you can play with Chippo, but the basic is scored like Cornhole. And the good news is, while having fun with your buddies, you will also improve a crucial part of your golf game – chipping. Reflective of that benefit is the fact that The package includes two boards, hitting mats Chippo won the “Best New Product” award at the and a bag of lightweight golf balls. 2018 PGA Merchandise Show. www.chippo.com.
