Order Number: 10-496 UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE U.S. FOREST SERVICE SANTA FE NATIONAL FOREST PECOS-LAS VEGAS RANGER DISTRICT RINCON FIRE AREA CLOSURE PROHIBITIONS Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited within the area and on the trails described in this Order (the “Restricted Area”) and as depicted on the attached map, hereby incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A, within the Pecos-Las Vegas Ranger District, Santa Fe National Forest, Mora and San Miguel Counties, New Mexico. 1. Going into or being upon the Restricted Area. 36 C.F.R. § 261.53(e). 2. Being on the trail. 36 C.F.R. § 261.55(a). EXEMPTIONS Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order: 1. Persons with a written Forest Service authorization specifically exempting them from the effect of this Order. 2. Any Federal, State, or Local Officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting resource in the performance of an official duty. RESTRICTED AREA The Restricted Area is within Township 18 North, Range 13 East, Sections 1-13; Township 18 North, Range 14 East, Sections 3-6, 7-10, and 18; Township 19 North, Range 12 East, Sections 1-2, 11-12, 14-13, 23-26, and 35; Township 19 North, Range 13 East, Sections 1-36 Township 19 North, Range 14 East, Sections 5-8, 18, and 30-32; Township 20 North, Range 12 East, Sections 1-2, 11-14, and 24-26; Township 20 North, Range 13 East, Sections 1-3, and 7-36; Township 20 North, Range 14 East, Sections 4-9, 17-20, and 29-32; and Township 21 North, Range 14 East, Section 35, specifically all National Forest lands and trails within the boundary starting at the intersection of the Pecos Wilderness boundary and Jacks Creek Trailhead, then following Jacks Creek Trail 257 in a general northernly direction to the intersection of the Skyline Trail 251 at the Pecos Baldy Lake, then following the Skyline Trail 251 in a northeastern direction to Truchas Lakes, then continuing on Skyline Trail 251 in a northeastern direction to Order Number: 10-496 the intersection of the Carson and Santa Fe National Forest boundaries, then following the Santa Fe National Forest boundary in a general northeasterly direction to its junction with the Pecos Wilderness boundary, then following the Pecos Wilderness boundary in a southerly direction to its intersection with the Lone Pine Mesa Trailhead, then following the Lone Pine Mesa Trail 214 in a westerly direction to the intersection with the El Porvenir Trail 247, then following the El Porvenir Trail 247 to its intersection with the Skyline Trail 251, then following the Skyline Trail 251 in a southernly direction to its intersection of Elk Mountain Trailhead and the Pecos Wilderness Boundary, then following the Pecos Wilderness Boundary in a general westerly, then northern, direction to its intersection with the Iron Gate Trailhead, then continuing along the Pecos Wilderness boundary in a southwesterly, then northern direction, back to the point of beginning at its intersection with the Jacks Creek Trailhead, as depicted in Exhibit A of this Order. NOTE: All trails comprising the perimeter of the Restricted Area are closed. PURPOSE The purpose of this Order is to protect public health and safety due to extreme fire danger in the Restricted Area. IMPLEMENTATION 1. This Order will be effective on June 16, 2021, at 6:00 a.m., and shall remain in effect until December 31, 2021, or until rescinded, whichever occurs first. 2. A map identifying the Restricted Area is attached and made part of this Order as Exhibit A. 3. Any violation of this prohibition is punishable as a Class B misdemeanor by a fine of not more than $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for organizations, or by imprisonment for not more than six (6) months, or both (see 16 U.S.C. § 551, 18 U.S.C. § 3571(b)(6), 18 U.S.C. § 3581(b)(7)). 4. Further information regarding this Order may be obtained at the Pecos-Las Vegas Ranger District located in Pecos, New Mexico, telephone number Pecos 505-757-6121, and at the Santa Fe National Forest Supervisor’s Office in Santa Fe, New Mexico, telephone number 505 438-5300. 5.
