The Teacher In-Service Program (TISP) provides a forum for IEEE volunteers to demonstrate the application of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) concepts by sharing their real-world experiences with local pre-university educators. IEEE offers training workshops for its volunteers on how to provide in-service programs to local pre-university educators. TISP functions essentially as a professional development workshop aimed at helping teachers bring exciting hands-on engineering lessons into their classrooms. Once trained, IEEE volunteers can connect with pre-university schools in their local communities to deliver the hands- on program. 23. Distinguished Lecture Program (DLP) of IEEE IS in STIKOM BALI: “File Compression to support IoT in Industry 4.0” IEEE Indonesia is growing quite nice, as of Dec 2017, it has about 1772 members and 23 Student branches. One of the IEEE Indonesia Section (IEEE IS) programs in 2017 is Distinguished Lecture Program (DLP), a general lecture program with a full professor who is also an IEEE Senior Member (SM) as the resource person. The aim of this program is to share knowledge and to promote the IEEE across Indonesia. Currently, the program is held to reach the vast Indonesian area and is directed primarily to the regions of Indonesia as one of the equalization efforts of knowledge that IEEE IS can do for the Indonesian community. On this program, the resource person will share their research works to the public audience and a presentation to promote the IEEE especially IEEE IS. On 29 December 2017, the DLP-IEEE was hosted in STIKOM Bali with Prof. Dr. Teddy Mantoro, SMIEEE as the resource person to share his research works. STIKOM Bali was selected because the campus is in Bali, as this is a tourist destination and also, currently STIKOM Bali is one of the best Higher Education (Sekolah Tinggi) in computer science area. B.1 Membership Development Activities

B.1.1. The objectives of the Membership Development Committee (MDC) of IEEE Indonesia Section are as follows: a) To increase the number of student and professional grade members within Indonesia Section b) To promote qualified members that demonstrated more than 5 years significant performance to Senior Members c) To retain as many members as possible

B.1.2. Total number of active members as of 5 Februari 2018 is 1820 members with the trends presented in Figure B.1. As shown in the figure, the number of active members for IEEE Indonesia in 2017 increases 22.1% compared to that of 2016. The highest percentage of grades is Member followed by, Student, Graduate and Senior as shown in Figure B.2.

The significant growth of the active member in 2017 is resulted from the increasing of IEEE Indonesia Section activities, both Professional, Technical and nontechnical activities, not only centered in big city such as Jakarta and Bandung, however the activities also spread out in several other cities such as Yogyakarta, Semarang, Purwokerto, Surabaya, Bali, Lombok, Aceh and South Sumatera.

The significant growth of the active member in 2017 is also resulted from continuous promotion of IEEE throughout the country via visit to campus, give lectures, talks, and using various social media.

Forming Student Branch and Student Branch Chapters at several Universities have the implication to increase not only to the total number of Student members, however also give positive impact to the lecturers to join IEEE. The lecturers are more aware and understand that IEEE organization and it activities can give benefit to their research, lecture activities, their professional career, as well the national and international exposure of their universities.

Last but not least, the increasing number of International conferences with Technical co-sponsored by IEEE Indonesia Section, also contributed to increasing of IEEE members in Indonesia Section. Figure B.1: Total Number of Active Members of IEEE Indonesia Section (2012-2017)

Figure B.2: IEEE Indonesia Active Members by Grade (2017)

B.1.3. Promoting IEEE Membership was carried out by Section, Chapters, and Student Branches in various ways such as during social meetings, conferences and workshops, and educational activities involving academicians and professionals.

As a result, the number of IEEE members in Indonesia has significant increased for 2017. B.2 Chapter Activities

The WISHY Congress covers Women in Engineering, Industry, Students, Humanitarian, and Young Professionals. The theme of the WISHY Congress is “Technology for Quality of Life”. The WISHY Congress was held inline with “The 6th IEEE International Conference on Communication, Networks and Satellite (COMNETSAT 2017)”On Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 5* Gumaya Tower Hotel, Semarang, Indonesia.

PART C - OTHERS

C.1 Special Events Special events are very important for promotion of IEEE, to maintain the collaboration developed and member can gain direct benefits of being IEEE members. This year we conducted a special event namely WISHY Congress and we also got support from YP and R10 Industry Relations. For YP meet up at WPMC, R10 YP also gave funding support for this event. C.2 Relationship with National and International Societies and Non- Government Organizations (NGO)

 Collaboration between IEEE Indonesia Section and MASTEL (Indonesia Infocom Society)  Joint activities between IEEE Indonesia Section and APTIKOM (The association of higher education institutions in computer science and information technology)

C3. Collaboration with other IEEE Sections

 Collaboration between IEEE Indonesia Section and IEEE Malaysia Section for Several Conference in Yogyakarta, Bandung and Bali  Collaboration between IEEE Indonesia Section and IEEE Thailand Section for Several Conference in Thailand  DLT activities in coordination together with Singapore and Malaysia Section

C.4 Support extended to Sub-sections & Society Chapters within the Section

Until now, we have not yet planed to extend to sub-sections. We are still strengthening our Section, increasing and maintaining our members. We work together between society chapters and Indonesia Section to promote IEEE throughout Indonesia. With various activities this has increased the membership to 1820 members. We also encourage the chapters to have senior members and this year there is an increase of senior members of 45.8%.

C.5 Best Practices of your Section (which you would like to share with other Sections for the benefits of members)

Strengthening support to Student Branch (SB) will result the development of number of activities and growing of IEEE member. We have annually conducted Indonesia Student Congress (ISC). This year we have conducted WISHY congress which combines Women in Engineering, Industry, Students, Humanitarian, and Young Professionals. The theme of the WISHY Congress is “Technology for Quality of Life”. We also conducted Distinguish Lecture Program from Indonesia to Indonesia. This program is to promote IEEE throughout Indonesia and also give lectures of current technologies. This is carried out by Professors and SM IEEE in Indonesia.

C.6 Problems anticipated and suggestions for solutions IEEE Indonesia Section actively anticipated and provided suggestion for solution to the Government related to the development of Information and Communication Technology, such as development of 5G, Internet of Things (IoT), Internet Transaction Electronic (ITE), TV Digital and Technology for Humanity, Smart City.

D.4 Business Plan for Sustainable Growth and Financial Stability There are several Business plans that we have discussed in executive committee and advisory committee IEEE Indonesia Section for sustainable growth and financial stability.

 With many conferences conducted in Indonesia and technically co sponsored by IEEE Indonesia Section, there is an idea to implement a certain amount of profit share for Indonesia Section. Until now, we have not implemented this, and only expect donation from these conferences without any obligations.  Bali is still the favorite place to hold conferences and international events in Indonesia. With this exotic place in Indonesia, we plan in the future, more IEEE events can be held in Bali Indonesia  Promote IEEE to other Islands out of Java and Sumatera Island. We have not promoted IEEE to Borneo and Papua Island. We have coordinator for east part of Indonesia but it is still farthest Selebes Island. This is still very potential for the future.  Conduct workshops and seminars that are with hot topics and participants must register and pay to attend these activities  Cooperate and collaborate with other potential organizations to strengthen the activities and promote IEEE to these organazations.
