English National Ballet and English National Ballet School present My First Ballet: Cinderella National Tour 6 April – 30 July 2017 Performance times and ticket prices vary (see below for details) www.ballet.org.uk/myfirstballet English National Ballet and English National Ballet School present My First Ballet: Cinderella, a reimagined version of the classic fairy-tale created especially for children as young as three. Adapted to an hour in length and with a narrator to help young audiences follow the story, My First Ballet: Cinderella is the perfect introduction to the magic of ballet. My First Ballet: Cinderella opens in Dartford on 6 April 2017 before embarking on a national tour to The Peacock, London (11-22 April), New Theatre Oxford (28 & 29 April), Liverpool Empire (5 & 6 May), New Wimbledon Theatre (13 & 14 May), Bristol Hippodrome (20 & 21 May), and New Victoria Theatre Woking (26 & 27 May). The production will also return in July for an additional run of summer performances at The Peacock, London (18-23 July) and Manchester Opera House (26-30 July). This production tells the story of Cinderella, who is tormented by her stepsisters and not allowed to attend the Prince’s ball. Left behind to an evening of chores, she is visited by her Fairy Godmother who transforms her into a Princess who shall go to the ball. Choreographed by George Williamson, award-winning former student of English National Ballet School, My First Ballet: Cinderella is part of the My First Ballet series which enters its sixth year in 2017. Since its inception in 2012, over 200,000 people have enjoyed the series which has included the hugely successful My First Ballet: Swan Lake, Coppélia and Sleeping Beauty. -

AVANT, Special Issue, Vol. IV, No. 3/2013 www.avant.edu.pl/en 18 A Laboratory of Spring AVANT, Vol. IV, No. 3/2013 ISSN: 2082-6710 avant.edu.pl/en Landmarks in the Life of the Reconstructed Sacre Millicent Hodson & Kenneth Archer In the midst of the centenary year of Le Sacre du Printemps, when Avant asked us to contribute something about our reconstruction of this legendary ballet, we knew the pace of our peripatetic lives would not allow us to write a new text. Much of the year we are away from our London base to stage the works that we have reconstructed or created through Ballets Old & New, our dance and design partnership. But we travelled even more during the Sacre centenary, participating in con- ferences, festivals, exhibitions and lecture series as well as staging our produc- tions. So we suggested that Avant publish in Polish the diary we wrote while first producing Sacre in St. Petersburg at the Mariinsky, the theatre which gave the world this ballet’s original creators: the composer, Igor Stravinsky; scenar- ist and designer, Nicholas Roerich and choreographer, Vaslav Nijinsky. The Mariinsky production and diary marked a turning point in our work. That was 2003, about halfway through the twenty-five years between our 1987 world premiere of the reconstruction with the Joffrey Ballet in the United States and the far flung celebrations of the Sacre centenary. Now 2013 has come and gone. Perhaps the ghosts from the riotous Parisian Sacre of 1913 are glad for some peace and quiet. For our part, the two of us appreciate the chance for Polish readers to share our 2003 diary, entitled “Seven Days from Several Months at the Mariinsky.” Yet another landmark in the history of our project came in 2011, when Krzysztof Pastor and the Polish National Ballet invited us to stage Sacre at the Teatr Wielki, where Nijinsky’s parents had danced. -

Krasovskaya who was an outstanding ballet researcher, member of Leningrad Choreographic School (Vaganova Ballet Academy). The article establishes starting date of her literary activities as a professor of the ballet history, reveals facts and details of work and revival of the Department of the theory and history of ballet. It also evaluates significance of Krasovskaya research file cabinet. Keywords: V.M. Krasovskaya - a pioneer of the ballet review Article is devoted to one of the areas of multifaceted creativity of V.M. Krasovskaya. Outstanding ballet researcher, she becomes a true innovator in a rare genre of ballet criticism - a genre of the overview of ballet seasons. The article describes and analyzes «Leningrad ballet companies seasonal reviews» for years 1954-61. Prominent features of V.M. Krasovskaya's critical method, defined by fusion of information, intelligence and artistry of presentation, are marked. The author reintroduces almost forgotten work of V.M. Press Information → 2020/21 Season THE VIENNA ① STATE BALLET 2020/21 »Along with my team and my dancers, I intend to work towards developing the Vienna State Ballet into a major hotspot of the art of dance in Austria and Europe forming an ensemble that reflects and inspires the traditions, changes and innovations of the lively metropolis, city of art and music, Vienna.« Martin Schläpfer Martin Schläpfer takes over the direction of the Vienna State Ballet with the 2020 / 21 season. The renowned Swiss choreographer and ballet director has recently led the multi-award-winning Ballett am Rhein Düsseldorf Duisburg to international acclaim. His works fascinate with their intensity, their virtuosity, their deeply moving images and a concise language of movement, which is understood as making music with the body, but always reflects the atmosphere and questions of today’s world. Several performances offer the opportunity to encounter Martin Schläpfer’s art – including two world premieres: Two new pieces for Vienna are being created to Gustav Mahler’s 4th Symphony and Dmitri Shostakovich’s 15th Symphony, which also mark the beginning of the intensive creative dialogue that Martin Schläpfer will be establishing with the artists of his ensemble in the coming years. As director, Martin Schläpfer is a bridge-builder who will naturally continue to cultivate the great ballet traditions, but will also enrich the programme with important contemporary artists and a great variety of choreographic signatures. The masters of American neo-classical ballet George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins will continue to be among the fixed stars of the Vienna repertoire, as will the Dutchman Hans van Manen. -

Sergei Dorensky was also named “People’s Artist of Russia” in 1989 and received the Order for Merit to the Fatherland in 2008. The vision of the Founders of the Academy, the late Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Gary Graffman Han Moon, can be understood in the calligraphy. -
