A Comprehensive Guide to the Book Adaptations Coming to Various Screens in 2020
A COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO THE BOOK ADAPTATIONS COMING TO VARIOUS SCREENS IN 2020 Emily Wenstrom Dec 31, 2019 https://bookriot.com/2019/12/31/book-adaptations-2020/ Books have always made for great movies, because hey, a good story is a good story. Gone with the Wind, anyone? James Bond? Jurassic Park? But of late, as new networks like Netflix scramble for an edge in winning viewers’ loyalty, old pros in the game like HBO hustle to prove they’re still king of the game, and major film moguls hunt for the next hot franchise or Oscar winner, it seems like everyone is looking for the best book adaptations. Which means we’re not only living in the second golden age for television—it’s also a freaking fantastic time to be a reader (and maybe an even better time to be an author? One can dream.) Among the biggest book adaptations news of 2019, Leigh Bardugo’s megahit Six of Crows was picked up for adaptation by Netflix (date TBD, probably not 2020), Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty has a new adaptation in the works for another thriller, and of course, everyone is on the hunt to discover the next Game of Thrones. Apparently it won’t be a spinoff show, after all. But these are only a few rumblings among a long list of projects coming in the next year, with even more plans already firm for 2021. That said, one area where Hollywood’s not so golden is in its diversity, which is glaringly missing from this list. -

Exporting Canadian Television Globally TRENDS, OPPORTUNITIES and FUTURE DIRECTIONS
Exporting Canadian Television Globally TRENDS, OPPORTUNITIES AND FUTURE DIRECTIONS MARIA DE ROSA | MARILYN BURGESS COMMUNICATIONS MDR (A DIVISION OF NORIBCO INC.) APRIL 2017 PRODUCED WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF 1 EXPORTING CANADIAN TELEVISION GLOBALLY Acknowledgements This study was commissioned by the Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA), in partnership with the Association québécoise de la production médiatique (AQPM), the Canada Media Fund (CMF), and Telefilm Canada. The following report solely reflects the views of the authors. Findings, conclusions or recom- mendations expressed in this report are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the funders of this report, who are in no way bound by any recommendations contained herein. 2 EXPORTING CANADIAN TELEVISION GLOBALLY Executive Summary Goals of the Study The goals of the study were three-fold: To identify key trends in international sales of television programs generally and Ca- nadian television programs specifically; To provide intelligence on challenges and opportunities to increase foreign sales; To identify policies, programs and initiatives to support foreign sales in other juris- dictions and make recommendations to ensure that Canadian initiatives are competi- tive. For the purposes of the study, sales were defined as sales of rights. These included pre-sales, sold in advance of the completion of television programs and often used to finance produc- tion, and sales of rights to completed television programs. Findings 1. An Evolving Value Chain Sales of rights to television programs are made on the basis of exclusive access to the program during particular periods of time, or “windows”, within specified geographic territories. Windowing allows rights owners to manage the sequence of platforms and territorial releases to maximize returns. -
Production Notes
A Film by Michael Sucsy Production Notes Facebook: @EveryDayTheMovie Instagram: @OrionPictures Twitter: @OrionPictures #EveryDayMovie TRT 91 MINS / RATED PG-13 / USA / ENGLISH / COLOR Synopsis Based on David Levithan’s acclaimed New York Times bestseller, Every Day tells the story of Rhiannon (Angourie Rice), a 16-year old girl who falls in love with a mysterious soul named “A” who inhabits a different body every day. Feeling an unmatched connection, Rhiannon and A work each day to find each other, not knowing what or who the next day will bring. The more the two fall in love, the more the realities of loving someone who is a different person every 24 hours takes a toll, leaving Rhiannon and A to face the hardest decision either has ever had to make. Introduction Rhiannon is a good 16-year old – she helps out at home, doesn’t cause trouble, and does well at school. However, her family has been struggling – her father had a nervous breakdown and stopped working leaving her mother Lindsey the pressure of being the sole breadwinner. While her sister Jolene is the wild child who acts out, Rhiannon just wants to help keep her family together. At school things are little better – Rhiannon’s boyfriend Justin is the popular athlete, however, he’s also self-centered and takes Rhiannon for granted. That is, until one day when Justin shows up at school acting differently. Suddenly, he’s attentive and curious and sweet. Taken aback and enamoured, Rhiannon suggests they play hooky and steal away to Baltimore. The two take off in Justin’s car, listen to music and sing along, share stories they’ve never shared before, and play at the beach. -
