Sep. 2021 Reimagining Everyday Life in the GDR: Post-Ostalgia in Contemporary German Films and Museums Stefanie Kreibich Thesis submitted in fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of PhD in Modern Languages Bangor University, School of Modern Languages and Cultures April 2018 Abstract In the last decade, everyday life in the GDR has undergone a mnemonic reappraisal following the Fortschreibung der Gedenkstättenkonzeption des Bundes in 2008. No longer a source of unreflective nostalgia for reactionaries, it is now being represented as a more nuanced entity that reflects the complexities of socialist society. The black and white narratives that shaped cultural memory of the GDR during the first fifteen years after the Wende have largely been replaced by more complicated tones of grey. -

Press Release – For immediate release KONDOLOLE FILMS AND TV PINGUIM ANNOUNCE THE LAUNCH OF A NEW PRESCHOOL SERIES PING AND FRIENDS Montreal, November 9th, 2018 The Canadian production company Kondolole Films and the Brazilian pre-eminent animation studio TV PinGuim are pleased to announce the launch of their new animated music-based preschool series Ping and Friends. The series follows Ping and Pong as they find musical inspiration in unlikely places. While having fun with words and sounds, they come up with the most fantastical tunes imaginable. They have friends from all over the world who visit them in Melody Meadow, and with them, they bring their musical and cultural traditions as well as their instruments. Ping and Friends help young viewers grow their vocabulary, discover rhythm and rhyme, and experience an array of musical genres from rock to Bossa Nova. In the words of the show’s producers: “If life is a song, then Ping and Friends are going to sing it!” The launch of the cartoon series on TVO Kids is settled for November 12th 2018 at 6:37 AM and will continue at a rate of two episodes a week. Subsequently, the series will be available throughout various channels in Canada in French and in English including Télé-Québec, TFO and the Knowledge Network in British Columbia. In Latin America Discovery Kids will start airing November 17th 2018 in Spanish and Portuguese Based on the Ping and Friends TV show and simultaneously launched on TVOKids’ website are 3 musical games that explore sound, rhythm and melody. Whether you strive to be a content creator, producer, writer, director, executive, or form your own business/creative venture, this course will help you identify how and why you should be creating your own projects. The content of this course will cover the benefits and pitfalls of developing your own content, companies, and/or partnerships. We will also explore the practical and real obstacles and opportunities you face as you leave USC SCA and begin to work in the entertainment industry. Where should I work? How do I make my projects? How do I start my own company or brand? In addition, key aspects of the producing process from both a creative and business executive side will be covered in the Film, TV, VR, and digital media spaces. The class will be broken down into 3 sections, “The Creative Process,” “Development and Production,” and “Marketing and Selling your Project.” Each class will feature panels or select speakers of industry professionals.
