topic Producing BBC’s Sherlock to Dracula with Netflix

Sue Vertue started her career working as producer on episodes of Mr. Bean, and Gimme Gimme Gimme.

In the late 1990s she met writer at the Edinburgh Television Festival (and they subsequently married); they left their respective production companies to join , run by , Sue's mother. Moffat wrote a sitcom for Hartswood and decided to base it around the evolution of their own relationship – that series became Coupling, which was first broadcast on BBC2 in 2000.

Other projects in the early noughties included Carrie and Barry, Supernova, Fear Stress And Anger, The Cup … and then in 2010 she brought a new adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes to the screen with Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead, and set in modern times. Sherlock was critical and ratings winner and three further series and a Christmas special have since followed.

More recently came the BBC / Netflix co-production of Dracula, broadcast over the last festive season. Sue is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful producers of TV drama and comedy and we’re delighted she is joining us…
