Thermo BioPharma Finder 3.2 Installation Instructions Follow the instructions in this document to install and license the Thermo BioPharma Finder™ software, version 3.2. You must be a system administrator on the installation computer to install the software. You may license the application as either an administrator or as a standard user. Checking the Before installing the software, check your language, keyboard, and location settings on your system and change them Language, as necessary. Keyboard, To check and change the settings and Location 1. Choose Start > Control Panel to open the Control Panel window. Settings 2. In the Region and Language dialog box, click the Keyboards and Languages tab, and then click Change Keyboards (see Figure 2). Figure 2. Make sure that the Default Input Language area shows English (United States) - US (see Figure 3). Otherwise, select this setting from the list. Make sure that the Installed Services area shows English (United States) > Keyboard > US (see Figure 3). Otherwise, click Add and select this setting from the list, and then click OK. Figure 3. In the Region and Language dialog box, click the Location tab. Make sure that the Current Location shows United States (see Figure 4). Otherwise, select this setting from the list. Figure 4. Region and Language dialog box showing Location tab 7. Click OK to close the Region and Language dialog box. 8. Close the Control Panel window. Database During the installation, if the BioPharma Finder installer determines that there is enough space on your system, it Backup automatically backs up your current database and other files to the drive:\ProgramData\ThermoScientific\ folder for Options BioPharma Finder-related files. In this case, the installer automatically performs the following: 1. Creates a new BioPharma Finder build version_backup_date-and-time folder under the ThermoScientific folder, for example: 3.1.56.0_backup_2018_12_20_1418 2. Moves the BioPharma and Databases folders down one level below the new backup folder. If the installer determines that there is not enough space for the automatic backup, a message prompts you to proceed with one of the following: • Delete files on your system to free storage space and then click Retry to retry the automatic backup. • Stop the Thermo BioPharma Data service if it is running, manually copy your database to another location, restart the service, and then click Continue to continue the installation without the automatic backup. –or– • Click Cancel to cancel the installation. Retrieving the If the installer automatically backs up your data, you can retrieve the backed-up database and files later on if needed. Backed-Up To retrieve your automatically backed-up data Database 1. Choose Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Services to open the Services window. 2. Stop the service Thermo BioPharma Data Service if it is running. 3. Go to the drive:\ProgramData\ThermoScientific\ folder on your system. 4. Save the current BioPharma and Databases folders to a different location. 5. Move the backed-up BioPharma and Databases folders under the build version_backup_date-and-time folder up one level to their original location. 6. Start the service Thermo BioPharma Data Service. 3 Clearing the (For systems running Microsoft™ Windows™ 10) To view the report at the end of the installation, you must clear a Security security setting in the Adobe™ Acrobat™ Reader™ application before you start the BioPharma Finder software Setting to installation. Do one of the following: Software • Insert the BioPharma Finder 3.2 DVD into the DVD/CD-ROM drive. The Autorun program automatically launches the installer wizard. If the wizard does not start, navigate back to the DVD in Windows Explorer and double-click BioPharmaFinderSetup.exe. • From the Flexera Software™ download site, unzip the downloaded file and double-click BioPharmaFinderSetup.exe. The Thermo BioPharma Finder Suite page opens. 3. Click the links to view the installation instructions, release notes, validation certificate, example data, and other documents, as needed. 4. In the installer wizard, click Next and follow the on-screen installation instructions. The wizard automatically checks for the minimum system requirements. It displays a summary report of any missing items with links to download and install the required software. When you have completed the installation of the missing items, click Retry. If the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC application is not already installed and your computer is offline, follow these steps: a. Insert the DVD on a computer with a network connection. b. Start the installer wizard and follow the instructions until prompted to install the Reader software. c. Click the link to download this software. d. Download the Acrobat Reader installer and save it. e. Copy the installer to the offline computer. f. Run the Acrobat Reader installer. 5. If you have previous versions of the BioPharma Finder or Protein Deconvolution applications on your system, click Yes at the prompt to uninstall all legacy applications and convert your legacy data. For more information about the data conversion process, refer to the topic “Converting Data from Legacy Applications” in the BioPharma Finder User Guide. 4 6. Continue installing the BioPharma Finder 3.2 software. During the installation, the following Windows Security Alert dialog box might appear (see Figure 5): Figure 5. Windows Security Alert dialog box If it appears, click Allow Access. Activating the To activate the BioPharma Finder 3.2 license License 1. After installation is complete, start the application from the desktop icon or Start menu. 2. Choose the appropriate licensing option: • For the demo version of the BioPharma Finder application, use the 60-day trial license. –or– • For purchasers of the BioPharma Finder application, set a permanent license using the activation code provided through your Flexera account. You cannot use a license key from an earlier version. 3. Choose Help > About BioPharma Finder and then click Activate to display the Product Licensing wizard and follow the on-screen instructions. For more information about both trial and permanent licenses, click Help on the License Activation page of the wizard.
