Boldt Castle Boldt Castle, located near Alexandria Bay, NY in the famed 1000 Islands is once again becoming what it was always meant to be, the premier home and attraction on the St. Lawrence River. Brockville Museum Features exhibits and artifacts related to Brockville’s rich Loyalist history and the city’s development as a waterfront community, as well as changing thematic displays and special events to complement the permanent exhibits. Cornwall Brothers Store & Museum The Cornwall Brothers Store and Museum, located on the waterfront in Alexandria Bay, New York, offers a variety of exhibits about Thousand Islands history, a lecture series, and special events and tours. Doran Bay Model Ship Museum Marvel at one of the finest private collections of model ships in the world. Each model has been painstakingly build according to original plans using the finest exotic woods. Explore more at: 1000islandsriverquest.com Fort Wellington National Historic Site Located in Prescott, Ontario, (across the river from Ogdensburg, NY,) Fort Wellington is an authentic 19th century fort that takes visitors back to an earlier time when fiery conflicts with uncertain outcomes brought forth unity, bravery and perseverance, and helped define who we are as a people and as a nation. Frederic Remington Museum Artist Frederic Remington is world famous for his bronze “cowboy” sculptures. He also owned an island here where he loved to paint River scenes. He said “When I die, my Heaven is going to be something like this”. Located in Ogdensburg, New York, the museum houses original paintings, sketches and sculptures, as well as many personal effects and correspondence that serve to bring his vision to life. Fulford Place Located in Brockville, overlooking the St. Lawrence River, Fulford Place is a 20,000-square-foot mansion built in 1899- 1901 for self-made millionaire and Senator George T. Fulford. The magnificent mansion features fascinating collections, exhibits, seasonal events, educational programming, guided tours and a Tea Room serving lunch and Afternoon Tea. Gananoque Boat Line Departing from Gananoque Ontario, Gananoque Boat Line is the largest and oldest cruise company in the 1000 Islands. A variety of day and evening cruises to allow you to discover castles, lost ships, pirates, the beautiful scenery of the 1000 Islands and much more. Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises The ships sail east from Kingston harbour past the largest of the 1000 Islands and then on to the smaller ones of the Admiralty Group. Lost Villages Historical Society When the St Lawrence Seaway was constructed in the 1950s, farmland including 8 villages and hamlets were flooded. Saunders Generating Station, in the west end of Cornwall, Ontario. The centre has many interactive electricity exhibits and history on the St. Lawrence Seaway and power Project – one of Canada’s largest ever engineering projects! Singer Castle In 1902-1905 the President of the Singer Sewing Machine Company had a 5 story “hunting lodge” built on Dark Island. His architect based the design on Woodstock Palace as described in Sir Walter Scott’s novel Woodstock or The Cavalier. There are 45-minute guided tours of the castle with views of the secret passageways and out buildings. You can even book an overnight stay in the Royal Suite. Thousand Islands Arts Center Thousand Islands Arts Center a non for profit educational institution concerned with preserving the skills of traditional artist and artisans and supporting the heritage arts, with a strong focus on river inspirations. Upper Canada Village Upper Canada Village is one of the country’s largest historical sites. Located just east of Brockville in the town of Morrisburg, visitors can turn back the clocks and experience what life was like hundreds of years ago. Fort Henry National Historic Fort Henry was built from 1832 to 1837 to replace an existing Site fortification from the War of 1812 era. Situated atop Point Henry, the Fort protected the naval dockyard at Point Frederick, the entrance of the Rideau Canal and the town of Kingston, which was the major transshipment point along the supply route between Montreal or Ottawa and all points west. Fast forward to World War II, where Fort Henry became Camp 31, a Prisoner of War camp for enemy merchant seamen, soldiers, sailors and airmen. Reopened in 1948, Fort Henry has seen millions of visitors pass through its gates to watch the internationally acclaimed Fort Henry Guard perform. Marine Museum of the Great Lakes Located on the downtown waterfront, the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes at Kingston includes the original pump house and steam-driven engines that empty the massive limestone dry dock built in 1890, designated a National Historic site. Thousand Islands Museum The Thousand Islands Museum is an educational public trust dedicated to the continuing collection, preservation and exhibition of artifacts and historical records of the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands communities. Antique Boat Museum The Antique Boat Museum located in Clayton, New York, is North America’s premier fresh water nautical museum. It’s a must see location if you are in Quest of Boats.
