Antique Architectural Salvage Open 7 days a week Cucumbers for Summer by Jo O’Connor As the non-foodie on the Tourist & Town team, I usually hesitate submitting recipes. Alas, it’s summer and my to-die-for-dish (twice daily) is a bowl of cucumbers. You know, that widely cultivated creeping vine vegetable that is 95% water, 4% carbs and 1% fat. Here goes! Lorem ipsum Buy large and firm cucumbers (garden stands are ideal). No seedless. Refrigerate! Peel (yes I know about the wonderful benefits of the skin). Slice into ½ dollars size, then cut that in half. Dowse with Braggs Organic Raw Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar (no other brand will do). THE Amply sprinkle with Malden Salt (no other brand will do). OLD HOUSE Lightly pepper. PARTS CO. Voila! The perfect summer treat. Full disclosure: I eat this year-round. BTW: Don’t get me start on my love affair for tomatoes. 1 Trackside Drive | Kennebunk | 207-985-1999 www.oldhouseparts.com

The weather gods have not been kind to us during the past few weeks. The glorious sun-splashed summer days we've been accustomed to have been few and far between while we've had more than our usual share of overcast and rainy days. Our lawns may be healthy but our summer spirits are in need of a boost. Fortunately, southern Maine has such inherent beauty that a photographer can find pleasing images even under less-than-ideal conditions. To be sure, rainy days can be a challenge but foggy days can be an opportunity. Indeed, some of my favorite summer images have been captured on foggy but windless days when lobster boats are eerily but beautifully reflect- ing in the water. ~ Bob Dennis kportimages.com Below Federal Jack’s Kennebunkport Brewing Co.
