Trianna Connolly, who graduated as part of the Ready Class of 2014, acknowledges the role that Bishop Ready played in forming her character and encouraging her ambitions. She was a stellar student at Ready and participated in a wide range of co-curricular activities. It’s a rare theatre production that didn’t find her name among the cast, either in a featured role or as a member of the ensemble. A member of the show and concert choirs, Trianna sang at her Baccalaureate Mass and as part of the Commencement Exercises. She was a member of the National Beta Club and National Honor Society; she’s a member of the school’s Academic Hall of Fame and was a Student Council Officer and received an academic scholarship to Ohio University. Trianna in traditional sari The Ready foundation allowed her to pursue her goals with confidence. “I love how integrated Ready was becoming on the international spectrum while I was in my final year there.” We are grateful that she has agreed to share her “post-Ready” experiences with us.

Trianna received a Bachelor’s degree from Ohio University in May of 2018. She graduated magna cum laude, with a major in journalism, and specializations in psychology and sociology. Trianna pursued a journalism degree “because I like asking questions. I pursued the two specializations because I have a heart for people. I’m curious to know why people do the things they do and how their actions impact society.”

While at Ohio U., she was part of a Christian group “which took up a lot of my free time.” Trianna took her capstone (projects designed to encourage students to think Trianna iwith friends critically, solve challenging problems, and develop skills that will help prepare them for modern careers and adult life) on international writing. “I had to write two articles sourced in Chile without actually going to the country.”

IN A DEPARTURE FROM THE NORM, THIS YEAR THE SILVER KNIGHT SERVICE WAS GIVEN TO A GROUP, RATHER THAN TO INDIVIDUALS.

he award was presented to the group of women Twho welcome our students daily, who cheerfully provide the sustenance that feeds the body and the soul: our cafeteria workers. Rain, shine, snow, sleet…they are there to make sure that our students (faculty and staff!) have hot, nutritious meals every day. With a smile, they individually and collectively serve the food and provide a cheerful greeting at mid-day.

The Ready cafeteria workers truly do exemplify the concept of team and, on a daily basis, make lunchtime just a little bit more cheerful and less hectic. Under the direction of Bob Selhorst and Sue Smith, and led by Amanda Blaine, these women are deserving recipients: Janice Hutton, Judy Kirby, Betsy McAndrew, June McQuade, Noreen Motil, Kim Rivers, Karen Statmiller, and Marilyn Summey.

Janice Hutton, Betsy McAndrew, Amanda Blaine, and Kim Rivers accepted the Award on behalf of the entire team. Congratulations

CELEBRATING CHINESE LUNAR NEW YEAR

his year, students from OSU’s Pi Delta Psi Fraternity brought the Tcelebrated Lion Dance to Bishop Ready as part of the Chinese New Year festivities. Our students from China, as well as our students who study Mandarin, participated in additional festivities, which included a special food sampling of traditional Chinese fare. The Lion Dance portrays a story of a lion that terrorized a village. In some versions of the myth, a Buddhist monk told the villagers to make loud noises and wear red to scare the lion away. He then went after the lion into the mountains to tame it and teach it Buddhism. He returned with the lion, which then became the protector of the village. Thus, the lion dance serves to bring luck and prosperity.
