Totals (not including independent schools)

Additional information for impact assessment

A) There is a large number of primary schools locally. B) The current profile of pupils due to attend the school from September shows about one third (14 pupils) from the LE4 postcode area and another third (15) from the LE5 area, which is the area where the site is situated. The remaining third of pupils are from five other postcode areas. There is a wide split across wards within postcode areas with very small numbers in each - this suggests that there are likely to be minimal negative effects on other primary schools. For this reason the more detailed assessment per school has been limited to those within two miles. C) Existing Hindu children are distributed widely across the city. No one school is likely to suffer a disproportionate loss of pupils although Rowlatt's Hill and , as undersubscribed and 'satisfactory' schools within a mile of the proposed Free School, have a greater chance of losing potential pupils. D) There is a general and accepted need for more primary places across the city over the next five years.

E) From the proposer's long-term formative consultation activities there were only two representations, from three secondary schools in total. Both were concerned about the effect on community cohesion and the city's BSF plans. F) The summative consultation which was carried-out in March and April this year showed a 95% rate of support for the project - those who objected gave no reason. 77% thought 50% faith admissions struck the right balance. G) City Council's response to the Department contained only one objection of note and that was around whether the local parents were aware of the 50% faith admissions. This was addressed in the subsequent summative consultation.
