Geomancy based methods are the rule and as reading systems they are excellent and carry a wonderful history if historic methods interest you. This oracle comes from my experience in Tea Cup, Rune and Tarot Reading. As at the time of writing I have over 20 years professional reading experience I hope this speaks well of the thought and process invested in this system. My aim was to create a Zen reading system that would be simple, easy to read and perform. As a reader or performer you can add this into your current work without difficulty. Since I created it a few years ago, I have used it on numerous occasions to add something different into a reading. This oracle pdf gives you a reading framework, and interpretation guide, my additional thoughts on interpretation and how to relate it to a Tarot Reading with my Zairja Tarot Reading. Note: This system is aimed at both the Fortune Teller and the Magician. I believe my system to be of great value to both communities and those who work in both fields. Contents: Requirements How to think about the system Landscape Reading The General Reading Breaking the rules Health Issues With Palmistry The Cartomancy Square The Seven Planets Reading The Zairja Reading Requirements 5 coins, that is it. Personally I use either Victorian pennies or bronze coins of Chinese style and carry interesting Chinese calligraphy markings on one side and sun, moon and monkeys on the other. These allow me latitude in my reading to use these motifs to emphasise aspects of the reading. Their appearance looks aged so as old coins so they have an aura about them, which befits being used in a reading. You can use the coins in your purse or pocket, there is nothing wrong with that, but you will find the appearance of historic coins, old foreign coins etc will work better for you. My personal suggestion is that you use old Chinese (perhaps Yansheng coins), Arabic, or Hungarian coins as these echo I Ching, Geomancy or Gypsy origins. The other alternative is for people in the UK or using British heritage to use old Victorian pennies as they are wonderfully historical, and reflect a period that includes Gypsies, Vampires, Gothic Horror and Spiritualists. Alternatively you can use bones, pebbles, shells or a mix of coins, bones and shells. Just so long as you can tell a head or tail. Coins I use are shown below. You can also invest in a good reading surface and I do recommend that. A velvet square or scarf can be excellent as can your regular reading covering. Personally I use a brown brushed cotton square as it appears lighter than black to mainstream clients. At a Gothic or Horror festival I would use black because it is in keeping, the main thing if you are not used to giving readings or working in this field is to make you and your paraphernalia appear like they belong there and not a caricature. Make sure you keep your coins looking the way you want them. Some people will want to have their coins look very aged and others will want them looking new or perhaps used but not too aged. My Chinese coins look old but not too aged. If you wish to age coins you are best advised to look up you tube and search for making a patina for bronze, brass, copper etc as there are lots of videos available. Personally a few years ago I made a few copper items, put them in an ice cream tub, covered them with salt and added a small cup of ammonia in the ice cream tub too and sealed it. I checked it every few days until I had the green patina I wanted. Make sure to keep your coins or 5 items in a small velvet bag or a small rosewood box for example so your coins look special. How to think about the system Forget your previous knowledge on reading systems when reading this at first. Engage with it without trying to make it fit what you know. Read the system and try the palmistry addition, the Cartomancy square, the 7 Planets Tarot and Zairja Tarot reading with it before trying to have it work with what you currently do. This way you will see the benefits of the system fully before trying to adapt it to anything else. A question of landscape This is where you are dealing with questions by the client. In other words, this is where an answer to a specific question is sought. Look at the illustration below. The casting surface is in four parts with two long lines acting as a cross. The lines are not marked on the cloth, you mentally picture it. As you look at this illustration, the vertical line you see is: Forward/Backward Positive/Negative Active/Passive Future/Past Birth/Death Forward, Positive, Active, Future and Birth being on the North side and their negative being on the south side. Looking at the central point, the further north of here the more forward this timescale is. The further below the horizontal, ie south the coin is, the more negative the timescale is. Then we have the horizontal: Artistic/Practical Philosophy/Science Riches/Poverty Progressive religion/Established Religion Progressive Morality/Established morality Inspired Decisions/ Decisions Progressive Views/Entrenched Views New endeavours/Safe endeavours This list is by no means exhaustive but it is easy to see the left represents the artistic, progressive and new world and the right represents the safe, the establishment and old world. *Note there is no element for health and illness. This is covered in a chapter to come. When you get to it please read it thoroughly. Heads or Tails The Head is a positive indicator and the tail is a negative indicator. Makes sense doesn’t it. So you can see how you would read if someone asks you a question. “I am embarking on a new project but is my partner supportive? With the previous picture I would say “Yes and no. Your partner is supportive (all coins on the positive side ie north of the line) but wants you to be cautious (indicated by the coins virtually stacked on the vertical line). The coins are heads up on the vertical line (indicating the partners support also – if they were face down I would say your partner is supporting you out of loyalty but they would do different). The solitary coin showing tails is far to the left so very creative and prospective. If the client chose that path their partner would voice disapproval. For the moment, just remember this landscape as we are about to work on a different process aimed at a general reading. The General Reading To work this you will have to get your five coins and hold your hands over the centre point where both lines intersect and drop the coins. You should practise to see how high your hand or hands needs to be to get the coins to drop and mostly separate but remain on the cloth or within a designated table area. This is one benefit of the cloth, it deadens the bounce so you can control the spread more. After a few trial throws you will know how to hold your hands, how to release and how high your hands needs to be. Depending on your throwing style you may elect to have all the coins being heads up or deliberately mixed prior to placing in hand so you have a random head or tail arrangement. With the drop I move my hands with the coins in a circle three times so the coins have a chance to travel. The starting reading is on heads and tails and on quarters of the cross. (Picture) Top left – Ambitions and dreams Top right – love Bottom right – Work and study Bottom left – Money I associate this with cartomancy, where Ambitions and dreams are Clubs, Love is Hearts, Spades are work and study and Diamonds are money. It is like a clock face with the suits running clockwise in a CHaSeD order. The coins you drop refer to the section they lie in. If on a line they work in the quarters affected. Heads – positive Tails – negative No coins in quarter – speaks volumes too One head in quarter – You are unique and just at the start of that journey of fulfilling dreams. A born entrepreneur and a mindset that does not make you universally popular. You have the ability to really shine however. Two heads in quarter – A partnership is your best working relationship and you are a great partner when in a romantic partnership. You are a born communicator. Three heads in quarter – Faith, religion, beliefs and ethics are strong in the client. You can be very supportive but hold unpopular views. Four heads in quarter – You are very stable, the four heads are like the four legs of a table. You need stability, as you want to be stability itself. Five heads in quarter – The client has great luck at present and has a humanitarian ethic. Personally if all five coins are heads and are over different quarters I say the client is in general lucky at present but mindset in using this luck is everything. There is a difference in risk expecting to succeed and risk expecting to fail after all.
