UCSB REGULAR RANK FACULTY
Summer salary for UCSB faculty is based on the 9-month annual base in effect June 30, 2021 (APM 661-18.b). Salary is 8.5% of the annual base for each 3-5 unit course. Salary for teaching a team-taught course and/or a course less than three (3) units is prorated. Note that all recall teaching appointments require the appropriate Dean’s approval. UCSB NON-SENATE FACULTY: LECTURERS

NEW LECTURERS: New Lecturers are appointed as a result of a recruitment conducted by the academic department offering the summer course. Once the recruitment is complete, establishing the annual base is done by the academic department preparing an appointment packet and submitting it to the appropriate college analyst for review and approval by the divisional or college Dean. Please consult Table 17 of the UCSB Academic Salary Scales; note that for Summer 2021, the minimum annual is $56,381. Together the recruitment and approved annual acts as authorization for Summer Sessions to issue an appointment letter.

** The salary listed is for a summer 50% TAship with a maximum of 120 workload hours as defined in the UC/UAW contract (Article 24, Section A. 1.). Note that this significantly differs from a 50% TAship position in F/W/S where the maximum workload hours is 220. To assist departments in determining the correct percentage of employment for a summer TAship based on the actual workload hours needed to perform required duties, please consult the table below.
