Letter to Parents of Boys entering Y7-8

Dear Parents

Recommended Reading for Senior Section

Reading is important at all ages, but it can sometimes be tricky to find an author and type of book that you like.

Listed below are some recommendations for boys in the Senior Section. This is not a list to tick off, but some suggested books that might be of interest. There are a mixture of authors, as well as modern and classic books, that should help to inspire and capture the imagination of boys in Year 7 and Year 8.

Please continue to encourage your sons to read an array of non-fiction books, alongside their fiction books, and encourage them to read a variety of books by different authors. If he becomes entrenched in the work of a particular author, you may wish to encourage him to intersperse each book with that of a different author.

In addition to the suggested books and authors below, there is also a good selection of books on the Carnegie Award shortlist. The link for this current year is below. Happy reading! https://carnegiegreenaway.org.uk/cilip-carnegie-medal-shortlist-2020/
