Kimball and the No. 83 Levemir® FlexTouch® Chevrolet started in the middle of Row 5 for the 200-lap race. With extensive clean-up, the race would not see a green lap until the restart on Lap 12. By Lap 27 Kimball had advanced three spots up to 11th until pitting for the No. 83’s first stop of the race on Lap 37. The No. 83 had advanced to eighth by Lap 46 and made two more passes for sixth by Lap 60. The second yellow of the day came on Lap 64 and NNCGR brought the No. 83 in for the second stop of the day on Lap 65 under yellow for fuel and tires. Can the three drivers become the first team to lock out the podium and complete the Captain’s sweep? DIXON EYES SECOND WIN: Another former Indianapolis 500 winner has a shot at adding a second Baby Borg to his collection. 2008 winner Scott Dixon returns with the formidable Target Chip Ganassi Racing team. HINCH AND HUNTER-REAY ON HOT STREAKS: Andretti Autosport drivers and front-row starters James Hinchcliffe and Ryan Hunter-Reay enter Indianapolis as two of the series’ strongest challengers to Team Penske’s dominance of the series.

FAST FACT The highest recorded temperature in the U.S. was 134° F (56.7° C) in Death Valley, Calif., on July 10, 1913. The highest recorded track temperature during an Indy car race was 137° F (58.3° C) on July 7, 2013 at Pocono Raceway. Graham Rahal raises his fist in celebration after taking the checkered flag at his home track of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, putting him within nine points of championship frontrunner Juan Pablo Montoya. John Cote/IMS Photo WHAT TO WATCH FOR THIS WEEKEND: MONTOYA LOOKS TO TIGHTEN GRASP ON LEAD: With wins at St. Petersburg and the Indianapolis 500, Juan Pablo Montoya remains atop the Verizon IndyCar Series point standings. The Colombian, who has won four of his previous 10 500-mile races, leads Graham Rahal by nine points and Scott Dixon, Helio Castroneves and Will Power are within striking distance. Can Montoya repeat at Pocono and strengthen his hold on the series championship lead? ANDRETTI SEEKS BREAKTHROUGH WIN AT HOME TRACK: Marco Andretti will compete in a virtual hometown race at Pocono. Andretti can lean on family ties for some advice as Pocono is one of two tracks where all three generations of racing’s most famous family have had success. Andretti’s grandfather, open- wheel great Mario Andretti, won the 1986 race, while his father Michael won pole for the race in 1986. Marco claimed the pole for the race in 2013. KARAM RACES AT HOME: Like the Andretti family, Sage Karam hails from nearby Nazareth, Pa., and will be racing in front of friends and family.

  • Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Dominates at Daytona, While Corvette Racing Claims Podium Honours in Florida
MEDIA INFORMATION 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Round 1: Rolex 24 at Daytona Ford Chip Ganassi Racing dominates at Daytona, while Corvette Racing claims podium honours in Florida Chip Ganassi Racing’s two Michelin-equipped Ford GTs dominated the GT LM class at the Rolex 24 At Daytona, opening round of the 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Despite fierce competition from Ferrari, Porsche and BMW, as well as constant pressure from Corvette Racing’s brace of cars, Ryan Briscoe, Richard Westbrook and Scott Dixon steered the N°67 Ford GT to the weekend’s win, finishing 11.166 seconds clear of team-mates Joey Hand, Dirk Mueller and Sébastien Bourdais in the N°66 sister car. The two Ford GTs led for all but nine of the 783 laps (4,486km) completed by the fastest GT Le Mans cars around the 5.73km track to beat the distance record for the class that had stood since 1992. It was the third victory in a world-class 24-hour endurance race for the Ford GT after its previous successes at Le Mans in 2016 – the year of the car’s launch – and at Daytona last January. The result also saw Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) notch up its 200th race victory (IndyCar, NASCAR, IMSA, FIA WEC, etc.) following a perfect weekend for Mr. Ganassi himself who was named Grand Marshall for the 56th running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona. “Twenty-four-hour races always present a wide range of challenges, both known and unexpected, and this race was no exception,” said Chris Baker, Director of Motorsport, Michelin North America.

  • Andretti Autosport Usf2000 National Championship Notes and Quotes, Pre-Race New Jersey Motorsports Park
For Immediate Release Contact: Kimberley Jackson Andretti Autosport (317) 872-2700, ext. 264 [email protected] ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT USF2000 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP NOTES AND QUOTES, PRE-RACE NEW JERSEY MOTORSPORTS PARK SAGE KARAM, #8 TEAM COMFORT REVOLUTION CAR "Mission accomplished. My goal heading into Iowa was to extend my championship points lead and to have Andretti Autosport winning the USF2000 National Championship team fight. So, we put it on pole and won the race. The #8 Team Comfort Revolution car was simply on rails. I am glad that Zach (Veach) could drive a damaged car to add to our team points lead. Michael (Andretti) and Marco (Andretti) watched my line in practice and immediately suggested adjustments. It really helped and I think it made the difference. Iowa was great, but New Jersey will be exciting because it's close to my hometown (Nazareth, Pa.), and we should have a lot of friends and relatives there. I'll train Monday through Wednesday for Jersey as I look forward to returning to the road courses." ZACH VEACH, #7 TEAM ADS CAR "Even though I didn't get the podium finish I was looking for after qualifying third, racing in Iowa will always mean a lot to me because of how much I learned moving through the field, which is what the Road to Indy is about-getting us young drivers the experience we need to move to the IZOD IndyCar Series. I am so thankful to be a part of this. I am really looking forward to New Jersey. New Jersey has hosted some great road races in the past.
