Equestrian Australia (EA) is the governing body for equestrian sport and competition in Australia. The ABOUT organisation was established in 1951 and at this time was formally recognised by the international governing body, the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI), for the EQUESTRIAN purpose of Olympic selection to the 1956 Olympic Games. Australia has enjoyed rich success on the international sporting stage since its first appearance at the Olympics, AUSTRALIA earning itself a formidable reputation for producing world class equestrian competitors. While EA has maintained its focus on high performance outcomes, in recent years it has embarked on new projects and implemented numerous strategies that aim to grow other sectors of the sport. In 2010 the organisation developed seven strategic priorities which would become the focus of the organisation for the forthcoming five years.

This aligns with the Australian Government’s long-term vision for sport in this country, outlined in Sport 2030, released in August 2018 by Minister for Sport Bridget McKenzie. Sport Australia will be central to delivering the priorities outlined in this national sport plan. LONDON PARALYMPIC GAMES Motion by the Hon. MARIE FICARRA agreed to: 1. That this House notes that: (a) from 29 August to 9 September 2012, the fourteenth Summer Paralympic Games were held in London, and (b) Australia was one of 164 nations competing where Australian athletes won a total of 85 medals of which 32 were Gold, 23 were Silver and 30 were Bronze. 2. That this House commends the dedication and perseverance of all Australian athletes that competed in these Games. 3. It was established in 1985 and operates under the Australian Sports Commission Act 1989.
