From the Scout Executive Thank you so very much for participating in the 22nd Annual Boy Scout Sporting Total Raised Be Prepared! Clays Classic this past May at the world famous Steel Tech Shooting Range in 2018 hosted by the fantastic crew at Steel Lexus of Louisville Proudly Supports Technologies. It was another great shooting year and we appreciate your $196,225 continued support of Scouting through the Sporting Clays Classic.

We want to personally thank and recognize two of our partners in the shoot which have been with us from the beginning: Lexus of Louisville and Steel Technologies. Together, these two corporate citizens have raised over $3.6 million for Scouting in the last 20 years. A big thank you also goes to Air Hydro Power for partnering with us as Title Sponsor. We couldn’t do it without you.

A special thank you goes to Bruce Ferguson Jr. and the Sporting Clays Committee for putting together an excellent program for all. This shoot could not have happened without John Carmack, and other wonderful volunteers who worked tirelessly to get the range ready. Thank you all for your work and support.

2018 | SPORTING CLAYS CLASSIC | 9 Shooting for Scouts Of all the signature events put on by the Lincoln Heritage Council, the Sporting Clays Classic is always one of the most anticipated. Shooters, both experienced and novice alike, have a chance to spend the day honing their firearms skills, enjoying the company of friends and co-workers and strengthening their bond with Scouting. The 2018 Sporting Clays Classic was no different.

Since its inception in 1997, the Tournament and Auction have raised nearly $4 million to support the Shooting Sports and Champions programs of the Lincoln Heritage Council, Boy Scouts of America. Corporate sponsors from across Kentucky gathered at the Merwin J. Range in Eminence, Kentucky. Many of our corporate sponsors find it the perfect event to treat their customers, employees or vendors to a great time while supporting a great cause.

The course is designed to challenge every skill level from the first-time shooter to the seasoned professional. Sixteen stations with 75 targets create a wide variety of fun. Teams are made up of four or five persons (depending on sponsorship level), and prizes are based on theLewis Class system so the top shooter in each quartile has a chance to win a great prize at the end of the day.

Along with breakfast, teams were treated to a down- home barbeque lunch after a day of shooting, as they compared score cards and spun yarns of “the one that got away”, which, in this case, wasn’t a fish but a clay pigeon.

With the food, the ammo and fun included in every sponsorship, corporate partners enjoy the Sporting Clays Classic for no other reason than the satisfaction of knowing that the proceeds from the event help the more than 17,000 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers grow in Scouting and become leaders for tomorrow. It’s truly a Good Turn for Scouting and one that shows no signs of abating for years to come.
