The sample itinerary described below is approximately like the itinerary your group will be following during your stay. However, the exact times, days, and destinations may vary for your group. DAY 1 A morning departure from your hometown has you heading for Greenville, SC for overnight lodging (pack an overnight bag); dinner is on your own tonight.

DAY 2 After breakfast, check out and continue traveling to Birmingham, AL where upon arrival you will begin exploring Birmingham. Your first stop will be the 16th Street Baptist Church which is where four little girls were killed in a bombing of the church. In the afternoon, you will visit the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute & Museum, which powerfully tracks the history of the Civil Rights Movement from its inception through today. You will also have an opportunity to visit Kelly Ingram Park, site of many large demonstrations during the Civil Rights Movement. Sculptures depict the experiences of the participants in the Movement from its inception through today. You will also view the Bethel Baptist Church. Later, you will check into your hotel and freshen up before departing for a delicious dinner. Enjoy the rest of the evening at your leisure.

DAY 3 Enjoy breakfast, then head for the town of Selma where civil rights protesters persevered in conducting the Voting Rights March of 1965 from Selma to Montgomery. While in Selma, you will visit the Brown's Chapel, where the protesters congregated, and the Edmund Pettus Bridge, a central landmark of the Civil Rights March. Lunch is on your own before heading for Montgomery. As you travel from Selma to Montgomery, you will be following the "Voting Rights Trail." Dinner is included this evening. Lodging will be in the Montgomery area for the next two nights.

DAY 4 Following breakfast, you will have time to explore Montgomery which was home to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the early years of the Civil Rights Movement. You will visit the Rosa Parks Museum, which preserves the history of the famous which began when Rosa Parks famously refused to give up her seat on a public bus. You will also visit the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church. A visit to the Freedom Riders Museum is also included. After lunch on your own in the area, you will spend the afternoon visiting the Legacy Museum: From Enslave• ment to Mass Incarceration and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice. Later in the day you will depart for a popular restaurant in Montgomery where a delicious dinner has been arranged for you.

DAY 5 After breakfast, check out and travel to Tuskegee, AL for a tour which features the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site. Afterwards, travel to Atlanta to meet your guide for a tour of the Martin Luther King, Jr. District. Lunch is on your own in Atlanta. Later in the afternoon you will depart for Greenville, SC for overnight lodging (pack an overnight bag); dinner is on your own this evening.

DAY 6 After breakfast, check out and depart for home with fond memories of your Civil Rights History Tour.
