The Class of 2017 produced an unprecedented 6 scholarship Division I Student-Athletes and the Class of 2018 did them one better! 1. Chae Diani, Soccer, Bryant University 2. Haley O’Brien, Volleyball, Bryant University 3. Bridget Mitchell, XC/Track and Field, Providence 4. Kat Buchanan, Lacrosse, James Madison University 5. Isabelle Neville, Rowing, Robert Morris 6. Jasper Malcolm, Temple University 7. Ornella Ebongue, Princeton, Track and Field Milton High School graduated over 30 student-athletes intending to play sports at the collegiate level. Fall Season The Girls Soccer Team had a tremendous season. They made the tournament once again, beating Duxbury in a penalty shootout, before falling to eventual state champions, Medway. Chae Diani, will be playing at Bryant University this fall. The Football Team had another fantastic season, finishing as South Sectional Finalists and Thanksgiving Day Champs. The Volleyball Team led by Bay State League All-Star Haley O’Brien finished as South Sectional Finalists. She will be playing Volleyball at Bryant University this fall. The Girls Cross Country Team continued their domination of the Bay State Conference. They were undefeated in dual meets, placed 2nd in the Division 3 Eastern Mass Meet, and 5th at the Division 1 All- State Meet. Individual highlights included 1st place for Bridget Mitchell in the Division 3 Eastern Mass Meet, and 5 Patriot Ledger All-Scholastics (Bridget Mitchell, Elise O'Leary, Ella Affanato, Genevieve Connolly, and Clodagh Corcoran). Bridget Mitchell will be running at Providence College this fall. Winter Season All four team sports made the tournament this winter! Boys Basketball is returning their core group, as well as 4 starters. Girls Basketball will look to build on Coach Millien’s excellent first year. The Girls Hockey Team is loaded with talent and depth, even after graduating Julia Scannell and Kat Buchanan. The Boys Hockey Team was back where they belong in the tournament and will look to improve on their 12-6 record next season. Milton High School hosted the Division II State Wrestling Championships, where Liam Kelly, and Xavier Fischer both wrestled on their home mats. Boys' Indoor Track placed 2nd at the All-State Meet. Smith Charles was dominant in the sprints and jumps. He won both the 55-meter dash and the long jump and placed 3rd in the high jump. Girls' Indoor Track added to their growing collection of state titles with another win at the Division 3 meet. Elise O'Leary won the 1000-meter and Jayda Dillon won the 300-meter dash. Spring Season The Rugby Team brought home their first ever MIAA Division II State Championship Trophy, dismantling Hanover in a rematch of last year’s final! Chris Caputo won Patriot Ledger Player of the Year for Rugby. Baseball returned to the MIAA Tournament while Softball made the Tournament for the first time in over 8 years. Both teams are returning excellent pitching. The Boys Tennis Team made the State Tournament for the 2nd straight year and will look to go one round better next year, with junior Nate Dickens leading the way. The Girls Lacrosse Team once again played in the State Tournament and are stacked with talent. Kat Buchanan will be playing Lacrosse next spring at James Madison University. The Boys Lacrosse Team strung together a few wins this year, and with a good group of incoming freshmen, will look to play the dark horse. Isabelle Neville and Jasper Malcolm will both be rowing Division I this year. Neville will be attending Robert Morris University and Malcolm will be attending Temple University. Smith Charles led the Boys’ Track Team in point scoring with wins in the long jump and high jump along with a 2nd place finish in the triple jump. Other top performers were Bobby Carew (7th in the 2 mile), Isaiah Woodley (2nd in the long jump), Moses Moiwo (8th in the triple jump), Luke Botsford (3rd in the 400) and 4x400 meter relay (7th). A week later at the All-State Meet, Smith Charles won the high jump and the long jump. He would also win Patriot Ledger Player of the Year for Outdoor Track. He concluded the season with a 9th place finish in the long jump at the New Balance National Meet. Girls' Outdoor Track placed 2nd at the Eastern Mass Division 3 meet. Jayda Dillon won both the 100 and 200. Elise placed first in the 400 hurdles and second in the 800. A week later at the All-State Meet, Elise O'Leary won the 400 hurdles. Elise and Jayda teamed up with Ava Duggan and Eliza O'Donnell to end the season on a high note with a 6th place finish in the Distance Medley Relay at the New Balance National Meet. .
