STUDENT TRIPS The Board approved the following requests for student trips in accordance with Board Policy 121, Field Trips:

WIN – WIN is requesting permission to travel to Indiana University of Pennsylvania in order to give students a preview of college life. The students will depart Friday, November, 8, 2019, returning the following day, Saturday, November 9, missing one day of school. They will spend the night in dorm rooms, attend workshops, and tour the campus. IUP will cover the cost of lodging and meals.

Model United Nations – The KHS Model UN Club is requesting permission to attend an overnight conference in New York City departing Friday, February 28, 2020, and returning on Monday, March 2. Students will miss part of school on Friday and all day Monday.

INDEPENDENT The Board approved the contract between the Kennett Consolidated CONTRACTOR School District and Maria del Carmen Aja for parent liaison services during AGREEMENT the term of the agreement, July 1, 2019, through June 30, 2020, at the rate of $40 an hour.

INDEPENDENT The Board approved the contract between the Kennett Consolidated CONTRACTOR School District and Stacey Zelesnick for dental hygienist services during AGREEMENT the term of the agreement, August 16, 2019, through June 30, 2020, at the rate of $40 an hour, not to exceed $11,000.

INDEPENDENT The Board approved the contract between the Kennett Consolidated CONTRACTOR School District and Lucy Angomas for bilingual services during the term of AGREEMENT the agreement, September 4, 2019, through June 30, 2020, at the rate of $75 an hour, not to exceed $15,000.

INDEPENDENT The Board approved the contract between the Kennett Consolidated CONTRACTOR School District and No Boundaries – Language and Interpreting Services, AGREEMENT LLC for translation services effective August 1, 2019, at a rate of $45 an hour for Spanish language translation and $55 an hour for languages other than Spanish.

ATHLETIC TRAINING The Board approved the contract between the Kennett Consolidated SERVICES School District and NovaCare Rehabilitation for athletic training services AGREEMENT during the term of the agreement, August 1, 2019, through June 15, 2021, at a rate of $35 an hour.

SETTLEMENT AND The Board approved the Separation and Release Agreement between the RELEASE Kennett Consolidated School District and Robert Moran. AGREEMENT

SETTLEMENT The District, through legal counsel, negotiated a Settlement Agreement AGREEMENT with the parents of a student in order to avoid continued and/or potential disputes or litigation. This Agreement will settle any disputed issues of fact and law but still does not constitute an admission of fault or liability by either party. The parties have agreed to keep the terms of the Agreement in strictest confidence.

Board Meeting Summary - September 9, 2019 Page 5 of 6 PROFESSIONAL As outlined in the approved Five-Year Capital Reserve Facilities Plan, the ARCHITECTURAL District will undertake two capital projects in the summer of 2020 – the full SERVICES restoration of the high school monumental stairs and the enhancement of the front canopy and façade at Mary D. Lang. Due to the complexity of the projects including a mandated public bidding process, the administration recommends the professional services of Bernardon Architects of West Chester, Pennsylvania.

The Board approved Bernardon’s proposals for professional services, which for the Mary D. Lang façade and canopy project will provide schematic design services only and will be based on a time and materials billing structure with an estimated cost of $11,500 to $14,500. The proposal for the high school stairs project is for global services including pre-design, construction documents, bidding and negotiating, and construction administration with an estimated cost of $99,150 to $102,950.
