Dear Friends and Colleagues,

At Suez Capital Sdn Bhd, we hold true to our mission of enhancing the living standards of the residents within our development. Apart from building innovative and sustainable communities through urban redevelopment projects, we also strive to provide learning avenues within the community.

Focusing on education through the love of reading, we launched our flagship CSR initiative – Suezcap Books on The Move Programme. As a book-sharing platform in KL Gateway Mall for residents and mall patrons to take, read and return the books, we hope to build a sustainable platform for the reading community.

Meanwhile in our Suezcap Stories and KL Gateway Mall Happenings section, we showcase the updates and happenings around our property development arm and KL Gateway Mall. Suezcap Impacts Community through CSR in Education

As a part of Suez Capital Sdn Bhd (Suezcap)’s flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative that focuses on “Empowerment through Education”, Suezcap has kickstarted a pop-up library at KL Gateway Mall in collaboration with Books on the Move (BOTM), a global book sharing initiative that took root in Malaysia.

With the aim of cultivating the love of reading among the community in Kampung Kerinchi, Suezcap Books On The Move Pop-Up Library houses a wide range of interesting reading materials and a cosy reading corner for book lovers to spend time meaningfully and exchange books.

Highlight: CSR Projects 05

Through Malaysian Artistry, a CSR programme created Malaysian Artistry: by Suezcap to enhance the knowledge and recognition for the talented local artist, Making Orang Asli Mothers Supporting the Art Independent (MOAMI) ran a successful art and craft store at G.K4, KL Gateway Mall which resulted in substantial Community sales profit for the orang asli community. Among the handicraft items sold were t-shirts, jute bags, March & April 2019 coconut oil soap, stingless bee honey, crochet products, books etc. with the price range of RM6 to RM80.

This meaningful endeavour enables Suezcap to not only educate the public about the skills and ability of orang asli but provided a central, easy access to purchase their crafts contributing to the livelihood of many community members. NEWSLETTER 2019 | VOL. 10

Supported by Suezcap and KL Gateway Mall, Generating Malaysian Artistry: Opportunities for Learning Disables (GOLD) has successfully conducted their sale of Kindness Cookies, Support the GOLD beautiful porcelain mugs and handmade stationeries, at the mall. Those items are the products of hard work and Community expertise of young people with Learning Disabilities. Suezcap Supports Human Rights to Clean Water

4 April 2019

Suezcap once again extended a helping hand to those in need.

A monetary contribution was made to an underprivileged home located in Petaling Jaya - Pusat Jagaan Rumah Juara which cares for about 40 orphans and abused children between 3 - 19 years old. Pandalicious Cheer for Yayasan Sunbeams Children

16 January 2019

50 underprivileged children and caretakers from Yayasan Sunbeams Home had a pandalicious day out when they were invited to a ‘The Joy of Spring’ themed Chinese New Year celebration hosted by KL Gateway Mall.

The multi-ethnic children enjoyed activities such as Coin Pouch Handicraft Workshop, 5 Emperor’s Drum performance, Acrobatic Double Lion Dance performance, Rainbow Chinese Calligraphy Demo as well as God of Prosperity Walkabout.

The festive celebration brought even more joy and smiles to the children as they excitedly walked into the 60ft long Inflated Giant Panda Playground located at the Central Piazza. The Inflated Giant Panda Playground is the first-of-its-kind in Malaysia and provides hours of fun for children of all ages.

To further heighten the festive mood of Lunar New Year, the Senior Management and staff of Suez Capital, children of Yayasan Sunbeams Home as well as members of media gathered for a 20ft yee sang tossing session, to welcome abundance and prosperity for the new year.

The afternoon concluded with presentation of cheque contribution to Yayasan Sunbeams Home, ang paos and goodie bags distribution to the children as well as meals sponsored by KFC and Chicken Rice Shop. NEWSLETTER 2019 | VOL. 10

Gift of Love for the Underprivileged

20 January 2019

KL Gateway Mall was made merry as Lions Club of KL Bukit Bintang hosted the 4th Annual Chinese New Year Charity Contribution celebration for over 500 orphans, senior citizens, disabled, single and low-income families.

The event was graced by Yang Berhormat Tuan Ahmad Fahmi Mohamed Fadzil and all the invited guests enjoyed entertaining performances like lion dance, song performance by Winnie K, violin performance by Jessica Loo. The beneficiaries from 21 non-profit organisation also savoured delicious lunch and happily walked home with ang pows and daily necessities donated by the kind sponsors. NEWSLETTER 2019 | VOL. 10

Sumptuous Recipes to Usher in Hari Raya As joyful Hari Raya tunes starts to echo in KL Gateway Mall and everyone’s heart starts to be filled with exciting festive atmosphere, it’s time to plan for delicious dishes for Raya festive celebration. Here are some simple recipes to impress the foodies’ cravings.

Lemang (Without Bamboo)

Ingredients: • 500g • 250ml coconut milk • 250ml water • 1 tbsp salt • 1 tsp sugar • 2 pandan leaves • Banana leaves (few sheets) • A drop of vegetable oil

7. Add the coconut milk and water. 8. Top with banana leaf, cover and bring to a boil on high heat. Then lower the heat right down and simmer for 30 minutes until the liquid’s all gone and the rice is beautifully soft. 9. Discard the leaves and let the rice cool down slightly. 10. When ready, form the rice into thick sausages and place on a banana leaf. 11. Roll up carefully, being careful not to rip the leaf too much. Instructions: 12. Fold the ends and secure with toothpick 1. Soak rice for a minimum of 3 hours, or overnight. which compressing the rice. 2. Drain, rinse and drain again. Set aside. 13. Inspire 20 Roti

Ingredients: • 1 cup all-purpose flour (150g) • ¼ tsp ground • ¼ tsp salt • 1 egg (beaten) • ¾ cup coconut milk mixed with ¾ cup (180ml) water • Vegetable oil to grease pan

Instructions: 1. Sift flour and ground turmeric into a large bowl. Add salt. 2. Stir in beaten egg and coconut milk until a smooth forms. 3. Strain batter to remove any lumps. 4. Brush some oil on a non-stick pan on medium heat. Pour a little batter into the cup until about half full. (If a roti jala cup is not available, please use a squeeze bottle or an empty milk can punctured with holes.) 5. Move the cup in a circular motion over the pan to form a lacy pattern. Cook until set. This only takes about 2 minutes. 6. Slide crepe out of pan onto a plate. Repeat until all batter is used up. 7. When cool enough to handle, fold in both sides of the crepe and roll to form a neat package. 8. Serve with your favourite .

Inspire 21 Daging Masak Hitam

Ingredients: • 5 • 400g beef thinly sliced • 3 • ½ cup (80ml) cold water • 2½ cm • 5 tbsp sweet • 4 tbsp • 1 tsp cumin powder • 1 stalk curry leaves • 1 tbsp ground fennel • 1 tbsp chilli boh • salt to taste (optional)

Instructions: 1. Grind the shallots, garlic and ginger to a fine paste. 2. Heat oil in saucepan and sauté the curry leaves, then add the ground ingredients, chili boh, fennel and cumin and sauté further until fragrant. 3. Add the sliced beef and sauté until lightly cooked. 4. Add water and leave to simmer for 15 minutes. 5. Stir in the soy sauce, then lower the heat and continue cooking until gravy is thick. Add salt if needed. 6. Remove from heat and serve.

Inspire 22 Biskut Semperit

Ingredients: • 150g margarine • 80g icing sugar • 50g cornflour • 80g custard powder • 120g plain flour • 1 egg yolk • glaze cherries – chopped

Instructions: 1. Fry the cornflour, plain flour and custard powder in a dry wok over low fire until the mixture is light. Set aside to cool. 2. Beat the margarine and sugar until creamy 3. Add in the egg yolk. Beat the mixture until well combined. 4. Add in flour mix. 5. Pre-heat oven to 120C. 6. Use the flower-shaped piping nozzle to press out the dough. 7. Top with cut up cherries and bake for 15-20 minutes.
