Con Un Par De Albums Consiguiendo El Doble Platino, Warrant Fue Una De Las Bandas Más Populares Del Glam-Metal De Finales De Los 80 Metal Symphony http://www.metalsymphony.com Con un par de albums consiguiendo el doble platino, Warrant fue una de las bandas más populares del glam-metal de finales de los 80. Formada en Los Angeles a mitad de los 80, el grupo fue formada por el cantante Jani Lane,los guitarristas Erik Turner y Joey Allen,el bajista Jerry Dixon, y el batería Steven Sweet. Ellos grabaron "Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich" en el 1989; a mitades de año, el disco subió al Top Ten por singles como "Down Boys" ,"Sometimes She Cries", and "Heaven", que alcanzó el número 2. Grabado en el verano del 90, "Cherry Pie" fue un gran evento musical,llegando otra vez al Top Ten de las listas de ventas con singles como "I Saw Red" y "Cherry Pie". Después de su gran éxito en el 92, Warrant tuvieron la "presión" para seguir haciendo álbumes de tan alto nivel de ventas como los anteroires, haciendo así su tercer disco "Dog Eat Dog", que fue certificado oro, mientras que "Ultraphobic" del 95, falló en las listas de ventas. A partir del fracaso de “Ultraphobic” y hasta llegar a la fecha de publicación de su “Under the Influence” e incluso después, Warrant vivió la etapa que la mayoría de grupos viven como es la de los cambios de formación y desorientación musical sacando álbumes poco destacables. Entre los años 1995 y 2004 Warrant fue un “escaparate” de multitud de músicos que no lograban encajar entre ellos y no dar una imagen del todo fiable delante del público. Ya en el 2004 volvieron a la banda el batería original Steven Sweet y el segundo guitarrista Joey Allen que volvía a hacer pareja con su compañero y fundador Erik Turner. Jani Lane si que no volvió al grupo siendo sustituido por el que fuera cantante de Black N' Blue, Jaime St. James. Así que plantándose y aguantando hasta la actualidad, Warrant editó su séptimo álbum de estudio llamado “Born Again” el 4 de Febrero del pasado 2006 con el productor e ingeniero Pat Regan. Que anteriormente había trabajado con KISS, Deep Purple, Mr. Big y L.A. Guns. A parte, este año ha salido a la venta un DVD que ilustra a todos los temas de ese “Born Again” llamado “Born Again DVD: Delvis video diaries”. Que por desgracia resulta bastante pobre a nivel de contenidos ya que se basa simplemente a ver como la banda interpreta los temas del disco en playback desde su local, además que los extras del DVD son muy escasos. Al menos si la grabación de los temas fuera en directo, ganaría algún aliciente más el hecho de comprarse este DVD....... Recomendado para los fans de la banda y poco más. David A. Temas del DVD: 1. The central theme is an analysis of the conflicting masculinities of glam metal and grunge music, and how these gender roles are developed and reproduced. I will also demonstrate how, although the idealized authentic subculture is positioned in opposition to the mainstream, it does not in actuality exist outside of the system of commercialism. The problematic nature of this idealization will be examined with regard to the layers of complexity involved in popular rock music genre evolution, involving the inevitable progression from a subculture to the mainstream that occurred with both glam metal and grunge. Brown, Advisor Between 1984 and 1991, heavy metal became one of the most publicly popular and commercially successful rock music subgenres. The focus of this dissertation is to explore the following research questions: How did the subculture of heavy metal music between 1984 and 1991 evolve and what meanings can be derived from this ongoing process? How did the contextual circumstances surrounding heavy metal music during this period impact the performative choices exhibited by artists, and from a position of retrospection, what lasting significance does this particular era of heavy metal merit today? A textual analysis of metal- related materials fostered the development of themes relating to the selective choices made and performances enacted by metal artists. These themes were then considered in terms of gender, sexuality, race, and age constructions as well as the ongoing negotiations of the metal artist within multiple performative realms.
