Pitchers Gary Majewski and Heath Phillips and catcher Colt Morton join the Skeeters’ roster. Houstonian Sean Morgan and Ofilio Castro also join the club. Majewski, a right-handed pitcher from Houston, Texas, arrives at Sugar Land bringing in more than six years of major league experience. He was originally drafted out of high school by the Chicago White Sox in the 2nd round with the 59th overall pick, but wasn’t given his first MLB appearance until 2004 with the Montreal Expos. Since his debut, Majewski has a combined 231 appearances on the mound primarily with the Expos, Washington Nationals and Cincinnati Reds holding a 4.75 ERA in 242 innings pitched. Phillips, a left-handed pitcher from Evansville, Indiana, was also drafted by the White Sox in the 2000 MLB in the 10th round. In 2006, he played the entire season with the Triple-A Charlotte Knights and was named the International League Most Valuable Pitcher after going 13-5 with a 2.96 ERA. A year later, Phillips was rewarded with a September call up and six appearances. Phillips comes to the Skeeters after spending 2011 with the Long Island Ducks. Filling another spot behind the dish, Morton, a native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, adds two more years of MLB catching experience to the Skeeters’ roster.
