407 ETR CONNECTS TO QEW TODAY

Ontario’s Minister of Transportation Welcomes Opening

TORONTO, July 30, 2001 – ’s transportation minister, The Honourable Brad Clark, joined 407 ETR today to officially commemorate the opening of the 407 ETR west extension. The event celebrates the final opening stretch, from to the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) in Burlington. 407 ETR will open this afternoon with the exception of the eastbound ramp from Highway 403 to 407 ETR which will open late this evening or early morning on July 31, 2001.

"Highway 407 is a huge success story for Ontario," said Clark. "Once again, this model public- private partnership is improving traffic flow, enhancing road safety and encouraging economic expansion in a vital trade corridor."

Clark was joined by José María López de Fuentes, President and Chief Executive Officer of 407 ETR.

“407 ETR is the preferred route for hundreds-of-thousands of drivers each day as its reputation as a convenient and safe route continues,” said José María López de Fuentes, President and Chief Executive Officer, 407 ETR. “Traffic on 407 ETR is growing steadily, averaging 279,718 trips per weekday during the second quarter of 2001, evidence of this public-private partnership success.”

407 International Inc. is the sole shareholder, operator and manager of 407 ETR, which runs 108 kilometres east-west, just north of . 407 International Inc. is owned by a consortium comprised of Spanish company Cintra Concesiones de Infraestructuras de Transporte, a subsidiary of Grupo Ferrovial, SNC-Lavalin Inc., a Canadian engineering and construction company, and Capital d’Amérique CDPQ, a subsidiary of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec.
