Ranging from urban to village society, almost every society is able to enjoy the internet. From it Islam follows especially in the field of da'wa. We can see from various internet media such as YouTube, Facebook, et cetera. Later, many of ustadhs either personally or under the institution, do the da’wa through internet media. Focus of this research is da’wa done by an ustadh named Khalid Basalamah. Khalid Basalamah is chosen because he often delivered his da’wa in mosques, recorded the da’wa and uploaded it to internet. This research uses prophetic philosopy formulated by Muhammad Shahrur that is distinction of risālah and nūbuwwah concept in reviewing problems of online da’wah of Khalid Basalamah. The result finds that there is monodimensional in online da’wa which makes no different from conventional da’wa; only emphasizing on field of religious sciences and aspects. One of the proofs of the monodimensional is Khalid Basalamah rejected philosophical sciences overall and only accepted several sciences which considered as useful sciences such as biology, physics, mathematics, economics, geography, sociology and medical sciences. 1 INTRODUCTION In recent days, many well-known preachers already using internet as their primary da’wa media.     APOSTASY & FREEDOM OF BELIEF IN MUSLIM PERSPECTIVE ∗ A Brief Exposition Mohamed Imran Mohamed Taib Centre for Contemporary Islamic Studies (CCIS) [email protected] Apostasy or irtidad/riddah (in Arabic) comes from the root word radd, which means "to retreat, to retire, to withdraw from or to fall back from". Within the context of Muslim jurisprudence (fiqh), the word implies the abandonment or renunciation of Islam. An apostate therefore is known as a murtadd. This term has evoked so much sentiment among Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Some Muslims today are calling for harsh punishments for apostates, ranging from death to imprisonment. According to a recent survey, 86% of Jordanians supported death penalty for apostasy; followed by Egyptians (84%); and Pakistan (76%). Support from Indonesians stood at 30% while Turkey was lowest with 5% supporting. (Pew Research Centre, 2010) Many Muslim-majority countries, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Malaysia, have enacted laws that target apostates as well as attempts to convert Muslims to other faiths. These lawmakers and their supporters claim to uphold "Islamic law" and regard apostasy as a severe crime that undermines the state, Muslims and their sacred religion – therefore the need to regulate it through the penal code. Meanwhile, freedom of religion is regarded as an important aspect in a modern, democratic society. Article 18 of the UN Declaration of Human Rights, of which many Muslim nations were also signatories of, states that "Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance." Sholeh Iskandar Km2, Kedung Badak Tanah Sareal Bogor, Jawa Barat – Indonesia [email protected] Abstract - This paper aims at studying a discourse on deconstruction of Islamic reason among contemporary Arab-Muslim intellectuals. The study is a library research, devising a descriptive method, where views and argumentations of selected scholars are presented and then analyzed. This study derives its data from primary and secondary sources. The former stems from the writings of those intellectuals who are directly engaged in the discourse, while the latter originates from available literature that directly or indirectly touch upon the topic. The study reveals that this discourse is triggered primarily by deep frustration felt by Arab intelligentsias as a result of the Arab defeat in Six Day War against Israel in June 1967. This frustration is further exacerbated by the rise of the phenomenon of Islamic Revivalism. Where does the problem/robot cause lie? Most contemporary Arab scholars of liberal tendency put Islamic Reason. By reason here they mean almost as identical with episteme, paradigm, worldview, or super structure of thought, that is, an Intellectual mechanism by which Arabs-Muslims look, interpret, and responds to their realities. This reason, they said, is inherited from the past and that must deconstructed (which can be understood as deformed or destructed) if we are to see the revival of Arab-Muslim society in today’s World history.
