Aumie spent time at the House with her mom Yuko and her older sisters, Hannah and Anjou. 8 Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon Strength in Community Ronald McDonald Family Room An extension of the House, the Ronald McDonald Family Room is a ‘home’ within the hospital for parents to rest and re-charge just steps away from their child’s bedside, keeping them close to support family-centred care for families with a seriously ill child. Located within Surrey Memorial Hospital, BC’s first Ronald McDonald Family Room is a 2,000 square foot haven with four overnight sleep rooms, a kitchen, showers, lounge, laundry facilities, play spaces and a quiet area. Located outside the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the space provides parents with newborns a respite from the hospital setting.
