CHELSEA PIERS CONNECTICUT ANNOUNCES MIKE ANDERSON AS DIRECTOR OF

(Stamford, CT – January 16, 2014) – Chelsea Piers Connecticut is pleased to announce that Mike Anderson will be joining its team as Director of Baseball.

Prior to graduating from Walter Panas high school in 2006, Anderson was recruited by over 100 Division I baseball schools and offered scholarships from over 50 schools. After committing to East Carolina University, Anderson was a key player on the school’s team from 2006-2011, and served as both a starter and relief pitcher, in addition to his role as the first three-time captain in the school’s baseball history.

In addition to his success at the collegiate level, Anderson played one season of professional baseball in the Can-Am league and has been one of the area’s top pitching instructors since 2008. Throughout his coaching career he has placed amateur players in colleges from the D1 to Junior College level.

Anderson has previously served as the Assistant Varsity baseball coach at Walter Panas High School, as well as Head Coach for multiple summer and fall travel teams. He is also a co-founder of both East Coast Baseball Training Facility at Navajo Field in Yorktown Heights, NY and East Coast MAVS Baseball.

The goal of Chelsea Piers Connecticut’s baseball programming is to strengthen the skills of beginner, intermediate and advanced players in a fun and supportive athletic environment. A variety of age appropriate programs ranging from Little Athletes Tee Ball to Elite Baseball Training classes ensure that all players, whether they are new to the sport or a college-bound athlete, progressively improve both individual and team skills. Mike and his team of coaches are also available immediately for private and group instruction in hitting, fielding and pitching. Additionally, low coach-to-player ratios and available baseball-specific training on-site at BlueStreak Sports Performance Training Center provide CPCT athletes with an extra advantage and the opportunity to improve their skills year-round.

"Mike is a great addition to the CPCT team of accomplished coaches and program directors,” said Mollie Marcoux, Executive Director of Chelsea Piers Connecticut. “He has an unmatched passion and talent for teaching baseball and he is able to apply this to coaching players of all ages and ability levels. We are confident that he will help us continue to build one of the area’s top baseball programs. “
