NEWS RELEASE For Release: Monday, August 16, 2004 Ticket Info: www.saschampionship.com or 1-800-531-7PGA (7742) Contact: Chris Madigan, [email protected] or (203) 352-6325 TOM KITE COMMITS TO SAS CHAMPIONSHIP PRESENTED BY FORBES CARY, N.C. – Tournament officials for the SAS Championship presented by Forbes announced today that 1992 U.S. Open winner Tom Kite intends to play in the fourth annual SAS Championship. The SAS Championship, an official event on the Champions Tour, returns to Prestonwood Country Club, September 20-26. Kite, a 19-time PGA TOUR winner, has seven Champions Tour victories in his four years on Tour. His most recent win came eight days ago at the 3M Championship when he sank three birdies in the last seven holes to win by one stroke over Craig Stadler, also committed to the SAS Championship field. Kite has seven other top-10 finishes this year. His victory at the 3M Championship ended a winless streak dating back to October 2002 and spanning 47 tournaments where he finished in second place six times. One of those second place finishes was last year’s SAS Championship. Kite recorded a career best single-round score of 61 at Prestonwood Country Club during Sunday’s final round, vaulting him from 34th place into a second place finish behind D.A. Weibring. “Tom made an incredible run at last year’s title, posting a score early, creating the stage for an incredibly dramatic finish,” said Jeff Kleiber, tournament director. “He’s one of the best golfers that’s ever played the game.

  • New Tour Edge Exotics CBX Hybrid in the Bag for Two Top 5'S In
New Tour Edge Exotics CBX Hybrid in the Bag for Two Top 5’s in Champions Tour Playoff PGA Champions Tour professionals using the new Tour Edge Exotics CBX hybrids and fairway woods earned two Top 5 finishes and three Top 20 finishes at the PowerShares QQQ Championship in the 2nd round of the Champions Tour playoffs Sunday. With only one event left in the 2017 Champions Tour season, the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, high-ranking players were looking for a last minute boost to their game. This led the #2 and #21 ranked players in the Charles Schwab Cup standings to work with the Tour Edge Tour Representative on-site of the event held at Sherwood Country Club. According to the Darrell Survey, this resulted in the players putting 18-degree and 20-degree Exotics CBX hybrids in play, respectively, during the tournament rounds. The two new players playing Exotics CBX this week make for the fifth new professional to put the spin-killing hybrids and fairway woods into play over the last three weeks on the Champions Tour. “It is a very solid testimonial in itself that a top ranked tour player would switch clubsin the middle of a playoff run, but it only hasn’t just happened once, it has happened five times over the past three weeks,” said Tour Edge President and Master Club Designer David Glod. “The test numbers don’t lie with the Exotics CBX hybrids and fairway woods and that has helped us gain some momentum with these players looking for a leg up.” The three players using Tour Edge this week account for 12 PGA TOUR career victories between them.
