Surf Life Saving and SACE

Surf SA is a Registered Training Organisation (40110) that delivers nationally accredited qualifications. The Surf Awards, Surf Rescue Certificate and Bronze Medallion are both mapped to units of competency recognised through the SACE VET Recognition Register. Students completing these Surf Awards will gain SACE Credits. Any students who are Club Members and have completed a Surf Rescue Certificate or Bronze Medallion can have these awards recognised by registering them with their school VET Coordinator.

Surf Rescue Certificate This 12 hour course is designed to extend and consolidate students' knowledge and understanding of surf safety, as well as their skills and proficiency. On completion of this module, students will have satisfied the requirements of Surf Life Saving 's Surf Rescue Certificate, and met some of the requirements of the Surf Bronze Medallion (Certificate II in Public Safety - Aquatic Rescue) PUA21012. Students must be at least 13 years of age at the date of final assessment. Below is a table of the Units of Competency and the nominal hours for each unit.

Students must be at least 15 years of age at the date of final assessment. This course is designed to teach surf skills, CPR, basic and surf rescue techniques applicable not only for local beach conditions but for all beach conditions around Australia. Surf Lifesaving Australia has mapped this traditional Surf Award to nationally accredited units of competency that are recognised by the SACE Vocational Education and Training (VET) Recognition Register. A full completion of the Surf Lifesaving Bronze Medallion is equivalent to a Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) PUA21012.
