Sultan Kudarat registered deaths lower by 6.55 percent in 2017

Sultan Kudarat Province had a total registered deaths of 3,237 in 2017 or 6.55 percent lower than in 2016. Among the city/municipalities, the City of had the highest registered deaths with 649 which constituted 20.05 percent of the total registered deaths in the province in 2017. It was followed by the municipalities of with registered deaths of 563 (17.39%) and with 361 (11.15%). The municipality of had the least registered deaths with 79 or 2.44 percent of the total registered deaths in the province in 2017. (Table 1)

The number of registered deaths in 2017 declined in most city/municipalities in Sultan Kudarat Province, except for Columbio, Palimbang and Senator Ninoy Aquino. The municipality of Lutayan recorded the highest decrease with 33.05 percent, followed by Kalamansig and Lambayong with 21.05 percent and 15.26 percent, respectively. (Figure 1 and Table 1)

Of the 3,237 registered deaths in 2017, about 60.46 percent were males and 39.54 percent were females, indicating that more males died than females. This is observed in all city/municipalities across the province. On the average, about 9 persons died daily.

The top three city/municipalities in terms of number of male deaths were City of Tacurong with 400 or 12.36 percent of the total registered deaths in the province, followed by Isulan with 345 or 10.66 percent and Lambayong with 213 or 6.58 percent. (Figure 2)

Data on deaths presented in this release were obtained from the Certificates of Death (Municipal Form No. 103) that were registered at the Office of the City/Municipal Civil Registrars all throughout the country and forwarded to the Philippine Statistics Authority. Information presented include registered deaths which occurred from January to December 2017. Figures presented are not adjusted for under-registration.
