Esquivias Assistant National Statistician National Censuses Service ISSN 0117-1453 FOREWORD The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) conducted the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015) in August 2015 primarily to update the country’s population and its demographic characteristics, such as the size, composition, and geographic distribution. Report No. 3 – Population, Land Area, and Population Density is among the series of publications that present the results of the POPCEN 2015. This publication provides information on the population size, land area, and population density by region, province, highly urbanized city, and city/municipality based on the data from population census conducted by the PSA in the years 2000, 2010, and 2015; and data on land area by city/municipality as of December 2013 that was provided by the Land Management Bureau (LMB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). Also presented in this report is the percent change in the population density over the three census years. The population density shows the relationship of the population to the size of land where the population resides.

    Southeast Asian Studies, Vol. 49, No. 3, December 2011 Reflections on Agoncilloʼs The Revolt of the Masses and the Politics of History Reynaldo C. ILETO* Abstract Teodoro Agoncilloʼs classic work on Andres Bonifacio and the Katipunan revolt of 1896 is framed by the tumultuous events of the 1940s such as the Japanese occupation, nominal independence in 1943, Liberation, independence from the United States, and the onset of the Cold War. Was independence in 1946 really a culmination of the revolution of 1896? Was the revolution spearheaded by the Communist-led Huk movement legitimate? Agoncilloʼs book was written in 1947 in order to hook the present onto the past. The 1890s themes of exploitation and betrayal by the propertied class, the rise of a plebeian leader, and the revolt of the masses against Spain, are implicitly being played out in the late 1940s. The politics of hooking the present onto past events and heroic figures led to the prize-winning manuscriptʼs suppression from 1948 to 1955. Finally seeing print in 1956, it provided a novel and timely reading of Bonifacio at a time when Rizalʼs legacy was being debated in the Senate and as the Church hierarchy, priests, intellectuals, students, and even general public were getting caught up in heated controversies over national heroes. The circumstances of how Agoncilloʼs work came to the attention of the author in the 1960s are also discussed. Professor College of Education Mindanao State University, Maguindanao Philippines Abstract Both Government Agencies (GAs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) thatparticipated in the War Disaster Management Operation in Pikit, Aleosan, Midsayap, and Pigkawayan, North Cotabato, Southern Philippines have extended food and non- food relief assistance for the Internally Displaced Persons(IDPs)coming from those areas mentioned. In addition, Core ShelterUnits were provided for the IDPs whose houses were totally damaged during the war, while financial assistance for those whose houses were partially damaged. Clustering approach, coordination and sharing of information with other humanitarian actors, and designation of field workers were the common strategies used by both GAs and CSOs for the social preparation of IDPs for relief assistance.     CHAPTER IV THE JAPANESE INTERREGNUM, 1942-1945 This chapter deals with the Japanese occupation of Koronadal Valley. An alien invading force would radically change the direction of developmental process in Koronadal Valley, particularly Buayan. From an envisioned agricultural settlement serving a major function for the Commonwealth government, Koronadal Valley was transformed into a local entity whose future direction would be determined by the people no longer in accordance with the objectives for which it was established but in accordance with the dynamics of growth in response to changing times. It is ironic that an event that was calamitous in itself would provide the libertarian condition to liberate Koronadal Valley from the limiting confines of Commonwealth Act No. 441. But more than structural change, the Japanese interlude put to test the new community. The sudden departure from the scene of the two titans of the community - General Paulino Santos and Mayor Abedin - raised the urgent need for the people left behind to take stock of themselves and respond to the difficult times sans the guiding hands of its leaders. A. The Southward Thrust of Japan to Mindanao To the people of the valley, the war was received with shock, fear and trepidation. It was like a thief in the night coming when everybody was unprepared. One settler recalled: “We were afraid when we heard over the radio that the Japanese are coming. We immediately evacuated and left behind our farms and animals. We hid in the mountains of Palkan, proceeding to Glamang and then to Kiamba. Our hunger drove us to dig sweet potatoes from the farms that we passed by.

SoCCSKSarGen Cluster 2 Blessed with almost even dry and rainy seasons (typhoon free) and fertile soil, picturesque landscapes, and very unique tri- people cultures which have been nurtured and preserved through generations we are greatly challenged with the negative peace and order perception of South-Central Mindanao that made our very own Filipino tourists shy away from including us as a tourist destination. 3 Great advantage – cultural endowments, which can be positioned to make us a premier tourist destination. It is our “sunshine” industry - Tourism will give us a greater economic stability, fund our environmental rehabilitation and protection programs, and provide us stimuli or incentives for our tenured migrants to sustain our conservation efforts.
