Students will learn the about the Paralympic movement and the Canadian Paralympic Committee. Students will research and “get to know” key Canadian Paralympic Team athletes, gaining an understanding of their sport training, athleticism as well as inclusive sport opportunities. Students will compose interview questions based on their gained knowledge of the Paralympic movement and key Canadian Paralympic Team athletes. Have students create their own interview questions specific to the athlete their group researched. Instruct students that their questions should be related to the Canada Team Mapping athlete participating at the Paralympic Games however they are encouraged to try to be as creative as possible. Ask students to share one of their interview questions with the class, remind them to try to share a unique question and not repeat the same questions. The win earned Canada a berth at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. The Canadian wheelchair rugby team is now ranked first in the world after winning the 2015 World Wheelchair Rugby Challenge in London, UK in October 2015, at which Madell was named MVP. ATHLETE PROFILE When Madell was 10, he lost his fingers DOB, Age at Rio March 28, 1994 (22) and legs to a septic staph infection.
