VIRGIN MONEY LONDON MARATHON 2019 #THANKSABILLION 05 WORLD PARA ATHLETICS MARATHON CHAMPIONSHIPS This year’s London Marathon will host the 2019 World Para Athletics world championship marathon races, as it did in 2015 when four world records were broken on the streets of the British capital. The event will replace the annual World Para Athletics Marathon World Cup, which was first held at the London Marathon in 2013 when races for ambulant para-athletes were added to a Race Day programme that had long included elite wheelchair competitions. In 2015, the World Cup was replaced by what was then called the IPC Athletics Marathon World Championships. This year’s event is called the World Para Athletics Marathon Championships. It includes five races for para athletes – three for ambulant runners and two for wheelchair racers. The World Cup will return in 2020 when London hosts the sixth edition. Haozhe Gao, Head of World Para Athletics, said: “London has staged top class para athletics marathon events for more than two decades and we are delighted to see the World Marathon Championships return to the city in 2019.” As well as winning World Championship medals, athletes in these races can also earn places on their nation’s teams for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. The top four athletes in each medal event will win a place at Tokyo 2020. The Events There will be five medal events at the 2019 World Para Athletics Marathon Championships, matching the marathon events to be held at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games: • T12: men’s and women’s (for visually impaired athletes in categories T11 & T12) • T46: men’s (for arm amputee athletes in categories T45 & T46) • T54: men’s and women’s (for wheelchair athletes in categories T52, T53 & T54).

TESSA VIRTUE & SCOTT MOIR ICE DANCERS ANNUAL REPORT KYLIE MASSE 2017-2018 SWIMMER OWN THE PODIUM To be a world leader in high performance sport at the Olympic and Paralympic Games TYLER MCGREGOR PARA ICE HOCKEY MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER With the PyeongChang Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games now in the books, 2018 will be remembered as a year of “Best Ever” for Canada. On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff at Own the Podium, we would like to thank and congratulate everyone in Canada’s high-performance sport community for their focus, dedication and wide-ranging contributions to the completion of another successful winter sport quadrennial. There were surprising wins, heartbreaking losses, setbacks and surges and through Anne Merklinger it all, a growing sense that we just might be on the verge of a whole new chapter of Chief Executive Officer success in winter sport as a nation. Canada took a giant step forward in its quest to be the world’s top winter sport nation with a record-setting performance in PyeongChang. With 57 trips to the podium in Korea, Canadian athletes finished second overall in the combined Olympic-Paralympic medal count. Just two medals off the leading pace set by the United States with 59 podium finishes, Canada’s second-place finish in combined Games was easily our nation’s best-ever performance. Finishing third overall at the Olympic Winter Games, and second overall at the Paralympic Winter Games in Korea, Canadians celebrated 16 more podium finishes than four years ago in Russia.
