Bus Transportation to Herman Park then You are on Your Own

Cost: $30

The $30 fee charged by the Zone Institute is to cover the bus transportation only. You will be responsible to pay for the activities you choose to do in the park area. Some activities are free, and others have a charge. You can select what you want to do and find the charges, if any, at the activities website.

Transportation: You are allotted 4 hours to play and enjoy but be aware that to do everything here may really take 4 days. In advance, pick what you want to do. There will be 2 drop-off/pick-up locations: (1) at the in the center of the park; and, (2) at the Museum of Natural Science at the north border of the park close to some of the other museums just outside the park.

1) Park: is a 445-acre urban park in , . The Park is home to numerous cultural institutions including the , , the Houston Museum of Natural Science, and the , The Herman Park Train, &The Japanese Garden. The park also features the Mary Gibbs and Jesse H. Jones Reflection Pool, numerous gardens, picnic areas, and McGovern Lake, an 8-acre recreational lake with paddle boats. You can go for an adventure on the Herman Park Railroad as you take a tour of the park. Or you can rent a bicycle at the Houston B-Cycle station in the park. Of course, a stroll through the park could be nice.

2) Museums: Within a few blocks of the north end of the park you will find the Museum District. With more than 7 million annual visits, the Museum District is one of the top cultural districts in the USA. 19 institutions make up the and 11 are free all the time. The ones found within 6 blocks of the Park include: The Contemporary Art Museum; The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; The Children’s Museum, of Houston; The Houston Health Museum; and, in the park at the north end drop- off/pick-up spot is The Houston Museum of Natural Science.

3) Zoo: The Houston Zoo is a 55-acre zoological park located within Hermann Park. The zoo houses over 6,000 animals from 900 species. It receives 2.1 million visitors each year and is the second most visited zoo in the next to San Diego, CA.

4) Golf: There is also the Herman Park Golf Course. Tee time reservations must be made in advance. It anyone signs up for Golf, the bus will drop-off and pick-up at the Golf Course Pro Shop.
