WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 10, 2016 SPORTS EQUESTRIAN Germany’s Jung goes for another eventing gold RIO DE JANEIRO: Often called the best eventing rid- er of all time, Germany’s Michael Jung aims yesterday to repeat Olympic gold with Sam, the same horse he rode to team and individual wins in 2012. Jung and Sam will start the final day of the multi- discipline sport in second behind Australia’s Christopher Burton while Germany, the team winner in 2008 and 2012, is in fourth. “It’s not often that you get to do two Olympics on the same horse. Sam is in fantastic form,” Jung, 34, told Reuters. A repeat was not always the plan, how- ever, as Jung only turned to Sam, a 16-year-old German Sport Horse, a week before the animals were due to fly to Rio. His first and younger choice Takinou suffered an infection. The eventing competition, one of three equestri- an disciplines in the Olympics, tests riders on dres- sage, cross country and show jumping. In May, he became the first German to win the Badminton Horse Trials in England. He also completed a consecutive triple of US men’s basketball blasts Burghley, Kentucky and Badminton that had been achieved previously only by Britain’s Pippa Funnell in 2003.

  • Dp Budapest 2017 Vf Pour We

  • Olympic Diva Guo to Compete in Chinese National Diving 19:26, September 20, 2007
Olympic diva Guo to compete in Chinese national diving 19:26, September 20, 2007 Olympic champion diver Guo Jingjing will lead a group of elite to compete in the Chinese Diving Championships, which served as one of the Olympic trials, to be held in Yantai, Shandong province from Sept. 21-26. During the six-day meet, 14 events as in men's and women's 1 and 3 meters springboard, 10m platform and synchro as well as the all-around and team competition will be contest among 350 divers. As the grand slam winner at the World Cup, the World Championships and the Olympic Games, Guo has no exception to show up at the national championships. She just completed a hat-trick of gold double at the newly-invented World Series by winning both women's 3m springboard and synchro in three stops. Guo, 26, currently the eldest women athlete in the Chinese diving history, said: "I need to vie for the Olympic berth from every trail, by my own performance, not by my previous reputation." Guo will compete in her favorite springboard, where she will face the challenges from her Olympic synchro partner Wu Minxia, world champion Li Ting and newcomer He Zi. Absent from the national contests for nearly one year, Hu Jia and Peng Bo, the gold medalists in the men's 10m platform and springboard at the Athens Olympic Games, will stage a strong comeback at Yantai. Other Olympic champions, including women's 10m platform synchro winners Li Ting and Lao Lishi and world champions Qin Kai, Lin Yue and Huo Liang will also show up at the national trial.
