Follow the instructions below to safely transfer files from Skyward using the encrypted Secure FTP .

Additional Information about Secure FTP transfers.

The two mainstream protocols available for Secure FTP transfers are SSH/SFTP and FTPS. These two are often confused as being the same protocol.

SSH/SFTP: the acronym stands for SSH Protocol, and – as the name indicates – it is a subsystem of the SSH (Secure Shell) protocol.

FTPS: is a “secured” version of the FTP protocol, encapsulated inside an TLS channel (as HTTPS, SMTPS, IMAPS, POP3S, …)

What is Implicit FTPS? Implicit security is a mechanism in which security is automatically turned on as soon as the FTP client makes a connection to an FTP server. In this case, the FTP server defines a specific port for the client (990) to be used for secure connections.

Both SFTP and FTPS offer a high level of protection since both implement strong algorithms as AES and Triple DES encrypts any data transferred. The most notable differences between SFTP and FTPS is how the connections are authenticated and managed.
