BMW Sydney, Rushcutters Bay. The legs you see in this picture be ong to John. His job is to make sure when you drive away after a service at BMW Sydney, your car looks as good as the day you drove it off the showroom floor. And we can honestly say, when it comes to detail, no one is as driven as John. Of course, he's not alone. He's only one of five staff dedicated to this sole task. And obviously, we do mean dedicated. It's quite selfish really, but we've always believed that if you look good, so do we. From the way we service your car to the way we serve you a coffee while you wait, it's what makes BMW Sydney a world of BMW. BMW Sydney, 65 Craigend Street, Rushcutters Bay. 9334 4555. www.bmwsydney.com.au 1999 Telstra Sydney to Hobart A TIME TO REMEMBER 4 In the fastest race in 55 years, the Volvo 60 Nokia, a Danish/Australian entry, slashed the record for the Telstra Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race while 15 other yachts also broke Morning Glory's time. YES TO YENDYS 8 IMS Overall winner of the 1999 Telstra Sydney to Hobart, the Farr 49 Yendys, had raced for only nine days , including the Hobart, when she crossed the line on the Derwent River to clinch victory for owner/skipper Geoffrey Ross. TAILENDING THE FLEET 12 The story of the race aboard the 22-year-old 33-footer Berrimilla, the last yacht to complete the race to Hobart, taking seven days 10 hours and logging 920 nautical miles for the rhumbline course of 630 mile.

  • New Zealand Olympians & Paralympians
New Zealand Olympians & Paralympians New Zealand’s first Olympic sailing representatives were Peter Mander and Jack Cropp in 1956 - and they won gold in the Sharpie. Since then, New Zealand has won a total of 22 Olympic medals (9 gold, 7 silver, 6 bronze), and are yet to get the country's first Paralympic sailing medal. New Zealand is ranked the ninth-best performing Olympic yachting nation ever. This is a great feat, considering New Zealand missed out on the first 56 years of competition - yachting became an Olympic sport in 1900 and has appeared at every Olympic Games since 1908. New Zealanders competed at the first demonstration Paralympic sailing event in the Sonar and finished fifth at Atlanta 1996. At the 2000 Games, New Zealand was represented in both the 2.4mR and the Sonar, and in 2012 NZ had the first SKUD 18 team take part in the Paralympics. The race format for the Paralympic sailing events was essentially the same as the Olympic Games, although all events were fleet racing, and there was no medal race. 2016 Olympics & Paralympics, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Team Leader Jez Fanstone Andrew Brown, Hamish Willcox, Jez Fanstone, Coaches Jim Maloney, John Cutler, Mark Howard, Nathan Handley, Peter Nicholas Olympic Project Manager Caroline Brisebois Doctor Craig Panther Team Physiotherapist Jude Spiers Rules Advisor Jack Lloyd Class Sailors Finishing Position Men's 49er Blair Tuke & Peter Burling GOLD Women's 49erFX Alex Maloney & Molly Meech SILVER Women's 470 Jo Aleh & Polly Powrie SILVER Laser Sam Meech BRONZE Nacra Gemma Jones &

Forty-five of those athletes came from WAIS ranks, establishing a new record for the Institute. Our athletes contributed to five of Australia’s 16 gold medals, or 31 per cent of the top medals from less than 10 per cent of the nation’s population. Eight Western Australians won gold medals, which was another record.
