She was born in Buffalo, N.Y. and moved to Arizona in 1979. She is survived by her parents Geraldine and Avrum Turk of Tucson. She was preceded in death by her son, Ethan Turk. Natasha was a member of Ruach Hamidbar for many years and contributed many beautiful drawings and designs to their prayer books. Natasha was a gifted multi-media artist whose work is categorized as "American Surrealism" by art historian Michael Bell and is catalogued as such in the San Francisco Museum and the Smithsonian Museum Archives. Tasha viewed her style as "visionary," since much of her imagery came from waking dreams, visions and nightmares. She studied with many renowned artists in a variety of media, including sculpture, in New York and California. Tasha had a B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of California at Berkeley and an M.F.A. degree in Painting and Printmaking from the State University of New York at Buffalo. The majority of Tasha's work contains human figures and/or faces, both realistic and allegorical. Her love of mythology, comparative religions and the psychology of Carl G. Jung led Tasha to do many narrative pieces that are often viewed as startling, provocative or confrontational. "Tasha" had many one-woman shows and participated in hundreds of group shows. She was honored with awards, articles, interviews and a listing in "Who's Who in the West." Her teaching experience included lectures and demonstrations to private groups; and studio and lecture courses at universities, colleges and high schools in New York, California and Arizona. Tasha was a juried member of the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles, the Arizona Artists Guild and the Arizona Pastel Artists Association. Memorial Service for Natasha Turk on Sunday, July 20 at Sinai Mortuary, 4538 N. 16th St., Phoenix. Rabbi Ayla Grafstein will officiate. Dana, Dora Irene Olson Dora Irene Olson Dana, entered this world just 9 days after Valentines Day in 1915. It only seems appropriate that her favorite color was red and so much of her life was filled with love for her husband Joe and her children and grandchildren. She was born in Salt Lake City and moved to Phoenix at the age of 14. Dora attended Phoenix Union High School and Phoenix College. She was a dancer, a violin player, worked for the commanding officer at Luke Air Force Base during World War II, and along with Joe, served 4 missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: Hawaii, Missouri, Washington D.C., and New York City. But her most important job and accomplishment was mother and teacher to her 7 children. She taught them how to cook, iron, clean, forgive, and to love. She taught them not to argue, how to do their best, how to serve a memorable Sunday dinner and keep the bathroom clean.
